There’s a Super Bowl this weekend?

    Hoboken Super Bowl Plans 2010

To many people, the Super Bowl is still a “must see” event, regardless if their favorite team has made it. It’s a party, a reason to drink & socialize, watch and comment about commercials, make some wagers, and of course, find out who the Champion of the NFL will be.

Myself, I’m a bit too busy to care too much about the Super Bowl this year, and have no problem doing other things.

Poll: What are your plans for the Super Bowl?

For Super Bowl XLVI, I will:

What about catering? Seems like a big business!

I’m reckoning many Hoboken residents are having or attending Super Bowl parties this year. Complete with food, drink, giant flat-panel TV’s and so on.

One thing you’ll notice along Washington Street are the number of businesses promoting their Super Bowl specials or catering options. I was wondering, with no local teams in the Bowl this year, whether the catering business or the “game” in general will have the same appeal as, for instance, when the Giants were in? And how has the economy affected such a business. Is there a time/value involved with catering? Or do people enjoy cooking for it too?

Poll: How do you feed your party attendees?

For a Super Bowl Party, I:

  • Are Jets fans homeless in Hoboken?

    1/20/2010:

A Hoboken411 reader believes the NY Jets fans may have an adopted home!

Shannon Lounge Hoboken NJ NY Jets Watch Game Bar

Why no official NY Jets bar in the Mile Square?

“Not sure if you have noticed but Jet fans are homeless in Hoboken. There really is no one bar that has thought about “hey this might be a good idea to bring in some more cash on Sundays!”

The Patriots have a bar, the Eagles have a bar, the Bills have a bar, the Giants have several bars… but Jet fans have no single bar in Hoboken to rally around. Sure pockets of Jet fans form at random bars around town, but nothing on the level of Giants fans at the Black Bear.

Anyway seeing how the biggest Jet game in a decade is this Sunday, I was hoping you could get word out to the motley crew of Jet fans that a solid group of us has been heading to The Shannon (106 First Street) the last two weeks. The backroom there has been perfect. If certain groups of jet fans prefer another bar, great, but to those who are homeless… come by!

I have no affiliation with the Shannon, I just happened to watch the game there the past two weeks and it has been a ball with fellow Jet fans.”

    Make your predictions!

Local fans are loving life so far in this NFL season, with both the Giants and the Jets sitting atop their respective divisions at 3-0.

    mark-sanchez-and-brooke-shields

While the Giants (-9) are expected to roll over the lowly Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, most football analysts are expecting the underdog Jets (+7) to suffer their first loss to the explosive New Orleans Saints. If the Jets and their rookie phenom QB Mark Sanchez somehow beat the Saints this weekend – it’d be an awesome sight to see.
