Hoboken GPS spottings still happen in 2014

I thought the Hoboken GPS Spottings category would have run it’s course last year, but I was mistaken. People still have dedicated GPS units that they leave in their car. How come?

One reason that people might still have GPS (despite great smart phone apps like Waze), is because they want to drive with navigation AND still text and message other people while they drive. It’s the only explanation I can come up with.

And perhaps these days, thieves are less inclined to take the risk anymore – because pawn shops probably only pay $10 for an average GPS you can pick up at Walmart.

Regardless, no matter what time of day or night, it’s never a good idea. Like leaving money on the dash!

Hoboken GPS spottings trended down in 2013

Wrapping up the monthly “PSA Photo Gallery” for 2013 – Hoboken GPS Spottings (a reminder that it is completely moronic to EVER leave your GPS units behind in your vehicles.) No matter what time of day or night, it’s just not a good idea. Like leaving money on the dash!

Luckily – I believe the trend of people leaving GPS units in their cars will eventually go away as more and more cars have this feature built-in, along with powerful phones have eliminated the need for a separate device. I wonder what petty thieves will pick for their quick grabs next?

And one benefit for snow in Hoboken, is that they completely hide the GPS units! Thieves are typically too lazy to wipe the snow off the windshield of each car they’re casing.

Hoboken GPS – Go ahead, rely on the robot…

Remember, never makes sense to leave valuables in plain sight. And this goes for the brackets – and even the suction cup marks they leave behind. “Hiding” your junk in the car won’t prevent damage.

Again, some great Christmas gift suggestions:

  1. For those who have become reliant on such “technology…” A paper road atlas! That is, of course, if they still know how to read, etc.
  2. Those who’ve recently had their GPS stolenjust buy them a new one!

I’m telling you all – you really ought to find more ways to rely less on technology – and more on the brain God gave you!

By planning and studying your trip before hand, not only helps if your GPS happens to break, but it also strengthens the brain and improves memory. Have a nice day!

Hoboken GPS – Making people dumber?

Probably in 10 years or so, all cars on the road will probably have built-in GPS – so this trend can finally die down.

Then again, are you confident that things will be the same 10 years from now? Hmmm…

I have to say – that since we started this category, the number of “GPS spottings” has gone down noticeably. This is good. I still see them, but further and further in between.

One might say that the reduction of GPS left on dashboard in plain sight could be attributed to more than just “public shaming on Hoboken411,” but rather:

  • People waking up?
  • More new cars coming with built-in GPS?
  • No need to know where you’re going…
