Arctic Hoboken

HDR Photo: Arctic Hoboken

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry is an “ode to mother nature.”

With winter just about HALF over – it has certainly felt like the coldest winter we’ve had in a VERY long time.

This “cold” view of Pier C Park, Pier A Park, the NYC Skyline and the frigid Hudson River kind of sum it all up: Brrr!

And after our relatively mild Super Bowl weekend – it appears that “seasonably” cold weather is forecasted for the next couple weeks.

Snowy Hoboken Pier

HDR Photo: Snowy Hoboken Pier (Huddle cameo)

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry would have been a nifty shot of Pier A Park with the clouds and the snow on the grass almost competing for perspective. The wood numerals from the Hoboken Huddle spectacle kind of muddled the photo up. Oh well.

January Thaw in Hoboken

HDR Photo: Hoboken January Thaw on Hudson River

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry was captured along the Hudson River looking at the NYC Skyline during our welcome respite from the single-digit temperatures. Call it “January Thaw in Hoboken.” Will we make it through the rest of the winter relatively unscathed? Or will mother nature pummel us with more frigid weather and heavy snow?

Frigid Hoboken

HDR Photo: Frigid Hoboken Waterfront Uptown

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry pretty much tries to capture the frigid Hoboken weather we’ve been having this winter so far. The uptown waterfront, along with the snow remnants and cool blue tint remind me not of a tropical paradise, but an ice-cold reason to make a hot cup of coffee and grab a warm blanket.

And did you know that we’re already in the snowiest decade since the 60′s? And we have SIX more years left! I suppose at this rate it will be the snowiest decade in recorded history.

Admiring NYC Skyline

Hoboken HDR Photo: Oscar admiring NYC skyline from Stevens

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry is for all the “parks” in Hoboken which have been under repair simultaneously this fall. Many residents have mentioned this to me, that the three park renovations (Stevens, Church Square, and Elysian) seemed to have been executed in a very poor way. Three dog runs were knocked out at once. Play areas dismantled. The general sentiment was “why didn’t they do ONE AT A TIME?”

It was probably for political publicity, and not “quality of life,” but regardless – the campus up at Stevens Institute of Technology was not under renovation, and offers trees, grass and stunning NYC skyline views, which Hoboken411 Mascot Oscar admires very much.

When was the last time you took a stroll up there?

Autumnal Pier A Park in Hoboken

Hoboken HDR Photo: Autumnal Pier A Park

Continuing the Hoboken HDR Photo of the Day feature, today’s entry documents one of the great fall pictures we managed to capture at Pier A Park (before the long, cold winter arrives for good). A nice varying degree of color, from the yellow falling leaves, to the dark green bushes – it’s “nature within a concrete jungle” for sure.

Hope some of you had a chance to experience a better version of nature at some point over the past couple weeks!
