In case any of you get off on this stuff – Hollywood movie star and singer Jennifer Lopez took a break here in Hoboken earlier this week. She was with some kid named Casper Smart.

They walked out on to Pier C Park, stopped at the Mister Softee Truck – and sat down over at 340 Grill.

Hobokenite in The Mighty Macs Movie!

The Mighty Macs features Hoboken resident Margaret Anne Florence

Actress Margaret Anne Florence has lived in Hoboken since 2005, and has been featured in various TV works such as Nurse Jackie and Law and Order.

She’s proud to announce that she’s in a nationally released film called The Mighty Macs, which comes out this Friday, October 21st.

“The Mighty Macs is based on the incredible true story of the 1971-72 Immaculata College team that started in obscurity but became the original Cinderella story in women’s basketball. This team of pioneers went from barely making that inaugural tournament to the first dynasty in their game. And Cathy Rush, the woman that was ahead of her time, became immortalized when she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.”

Margaret Anne plays the character “Rosemary Keenan” in the movie. The film is Rated G, and a great family movie that both the kids & adults will certainly enjoy.

See trailer below, and check out Margaret Anne’s website here – www.margaretanneflorence.com and follow her on Twitter at @margaretanneflo.

Congratulations, Margaret Anne!

Where to see The Mighty Macs?

Unfortunately, the film will not be shown at the Hoboken Clearview Cinemas (at least this weekend) – but you can see it over in Secaucus or several theaters in Manhattan.

Man Around The House brothers get Reality TV series on DIY

That’s right – the Wittmaack brothers, who own the “Man Around The House” all-purpose contracting company in Ridgewood, NJ – now have a Reality TV series called Brothers on Call that follows them around and chronicles their crazy daily schedule.

“From changing light bulbs to overhauling living rooms, the Wittmaack brothers and their team do more than 1,000 projects a year and DIY Network’s cameras are there to capture their hectic and often hilarious world.”

This weekend’s debut will feature two 30-minute episodes: “Kitchen Nightmare” and “Hip this House” and rounding out the rest of the October lineup, episodes about deck disasters and bedroom makeovers.

Sounds like fun – and a good reason to check it out (DVR).

Has anyone here used Man Around the House?

U2 visits Fresh Pommes Frites in Hoboken!

Hoboken’s Fresh Pommes Frites feeds Bono & U2!

Did you know that all the members of world popular band U2, including Bono & The Edge swung by Fresh Pommes Frites (209 Washington St.) last night?

The two and a half hour show was the longest in history for the world’s hottest band. And, since they were staying in Hoboken at the W Hotel, ten members of the crew visited FRESH POMMES FRITES, the only authentic Belgian Frite Shop in New Jersey and probably one of a few in the country.

The band gathered there as employees dispensed the twice cooked, top quality, hand cut, fresh potatoes and exotic dipping sauces… created by the shop’s master chef.

The band was nice enough to even offer the cell number of one of the members for the crew to attend the show. The result, according to the chatter, was that they loved the Belgian Frites, the sauces and the fact that it reminded them of European Frite Kartes.

Fresh Pommes Frites is located at 207 Washington Street, Hoboken and has seen its share of celebrities popping in – mostly guests at the W Hotel nearby.
