The old Terry Schwarzwald dental practice at 415 Washington Street is now for rent. Some residents think they’re done – but was wondering if anyone knew if they were just moving elsewhere?

3/11/2010 Update:

Aroma Chinese rumored to be moving

Oh boy! The second “word on the street is…” post today!

I overheard that it’s NOT Windmill Hot Dogs and Hamburgers coming to the old Frozen Monkey Location at 526 Washington Street – but rather Aroma Chinese (which is currently located at 318 Washington).

There have been some issues with Aroma in the past week or two – not sure if they’re structural, or landlord issues – just telling you guys what I heard! The “Real Estate Wheel of Fortune” spins pretty quick in Hoboken these days!

Finally a 24 hour convenience store uptown!

Coming soon to the previously doomed Sunny’s Cleaners location at 1029 Willow Avenue is “Prime Stop.”

Haven’t had time to check into it yet, but the awning color and design is similar to the “Prime Time” 24 hour convenience store across the street from Hoboken University Medical Center at 305 Willow Ave – so it could very well be the same owners.

3/9/2010 Update:

Newest Hoboken Coffee Shop opens doors

Late last week, John Kim, the owner of Clinton Street Cafe (13th and Clinton) became open for business.

Starting out rather slow, John says he plans for the Clinton Street Cafe “to have the highest quality products at the best prices.” So far, he features Allegro coffee and tea (which is also available at Whole Foods), bakery products from NYC’s Amy’s Bread, and salads from Anthony Davids right here in Hoboken. Some panini sandwiches and other items will also be on the menu when he finalizes it next month.

If you’re looking for a place off the beaten path to have a quiet cup of coffee, enjoy some outdoor seating – and generally away from the riff-raff on Washington Street, Clinton Street Cafe might be a good option for you. Current hours are 7am – 8pm, seven days a week.

3/2/2010 Update:

The wait for Ralph’s Italian Ices is over!

Bumped into Justin , the owner of Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices at 801 Washington Street yesterday.

Worried that they’d never open – I was surprised to find out that their soft opening is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010! They said they’ll be ready to go with tons of choices, and what they claim as the “best value” in Hoboken. Large Ices or Ice Creams are about $3.50, and they’re proud to stand by their big selection of flavors and toppings.

They haven’t finalized their hours yet – but will ease into later hours during warmer months.

Good for them to finally be opening in time for the massive Hoboken St. Patrick’s Parade rush! (open till midnight on the big parade day…)

10/17/2009 Update:

Just in time for… Winter?

Not sure what the holdup is at Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices that’s been in the works over at 8th and Washington – but cold weather is coming, and that just isn’t synonymous with “frozen treats” now is it? From the evidence on scene, it seems like a PSE&G truck was there, and some digging was being done on the front… so perhaps some “technical glitches” are holding up the opening…
