Crosstown bus up to no good?

1/4/2008:

Here one vigilant 411 reader thinks the crosstown bus is not where it’s supposed to be, and says:

“This was about 9am this morn driver went into Spa Diner. Also a no parking zone. Guess we don’t need the Bus? (I took this from my building’s Shuttle so don’t fear I was not behind the wheel)”

They didn’t indicate how long it was there, so it could have been 2 minutes.

If the picture was taken at 9am, I’m thinking his shift started about 6:30-7:00am. Maybe the man needs a hot cup of coffee after riding with the door opening and closing for 2 hours in the below zero weather. really, is it that big of a deal?

Mystery solved… this driver is also my secretary. I say this because my secretary comes into work 15 minutes late every day, drops her bags off, and then proceeds to leave for a 45 minute bagel run. Around 10:30 she returns to eat the bagel until almost 11am. Given that she passes the bagel cart coming in, I’ve always wondered why she had to go back out. Now I know, to drive the bus route and stop at spa diner.

Thank you all for your help!

i can appreciate all the bad habits that have been curbed due to the observance of hoboken411 and its readers. some things obviously were going too far. having said that –

can we all please get a life?! can the crosstown bus guy get some breakfast in peace? do we really have to look at a double- parked city vehicle on this site every day?

The fare on the crosstown bus just went up to $1. The bigger issue is the unreliable schedule of the bus. It is run too casually to be a good commuter option.
There is also a rumor that teh City wants to privatize the route, which will killit since there is no way it makes money. (I am willing to publically subsiidize mass transit, so I think it should stay public.)
