Hoboken Realtor Renege?

Do Hoboken Realtors talk a big talk then disappear?

“Dear Hoboken411,

Thanks for keeping Hoboken informed! We just purchased our first home in Hoboken. In doing so, on several occasions throughout the buying process, our Realtor made reference to getting us a “housewarming gift” after we closed.

We hadn’t expected one, nor given it much thought, but, since it’d been repeatedly been brought to our attention by our broker, in that sense we came to “expect” one, wondering “where is it?”

It’s now been months since we moved into our new home, and we never received that “housewarming gift” from our broker. We just think it’s kind of “cheesy” of our broker to have brought it up a number of times, but then not followed through on it. We’re not looking for some “big gift,” but would have appreciated a small gesture (it’s the principle). Following through on your words is a noble thing to do.

We’re curious what fellow Hobokenites experiences have been with this kind of thing, and overall with Realtors in town.”

PS – how come more Realtors don’t throw an “open house happy hour?”

I think its a violation to give a closing gift in excess of $25..

Our agent gave us a $200 Home Depot gift card after we closed. She did bail on our housewarming party after RSVPing that she would attend though.

When I bought my place in Hoboken, I was given a (i think) $100 gift card to Home Depot when we used Nicole from Weichert Realtors.

When I bought a house that cost 3x as much out in the burbs, our realtor gave us a $20 bottle of wine.

Every realtor is different, I suppose.
