Liberty Gourmet

1/3/2008:

Uptown residents living in the area of the new construction on the northwest-ish side of town, now don’t have to walk as far for common essentials (like coffee and cigarettes.)

Opening two days ago was Liberty Gourmet on the corner of 11th and Adams!

Stocking most of the things a standard convenience store sells, such as packaged goods, newspapers, beverages, candy and fruit, they also have a deli counter featuring Boars Head provisionals, as well as fresh-brewed Law Coffee. I was given a complimentary cup of Hazelnut to keep me warm, and I have to say it wasn’t bad! While D&D is always my favorite, this tasted 10x better than Starbucks!

Download Menu Here (free delivery.)

Owner Matthew said the store is open 7 days a week, from 6am-10pm (open at 8am on Sundays.)

Welcome to the neighborhood, Liberty Gourmet! (see a few more pix after the break)

I have now had a wrap, salad, bacon cheeseburger, panini and regular sandwich from Liberty (not all at once), and I enjoyed all of them. They have a surprisingly extensive menu. Very nice guys at the counter. It’s almost too easy to call ahead and have a nice sandwich waiting for you five minutes later.
AMEX charges merchants a much higher rate as compared to other credit card companies. As much as I love AMEX, I can understand why a small business owner wouldn’t want to pay the additional fees to the credit card company, particularly on small charges when they are just starting up. Cut them some slack. Plus you seem to be getting a commercial out of it, so it’s really turned into a win-win for everybody :D
Well for Liberty they don’t take any card, Visa, MC, etc for under $10. It is understandable that they wouldn’t take charge/credit cards under $10 in a grocery since the margins are razor thin as it is. I will let you all know when my commercial airs.

Or call Amex and they will lose their ability to accept Amex.
