Stevens Dog Park Busted
Update: City “fix” at Stevens Dog Park – dogs escape!
Oh boy. The city decided the best “fix” for the Stevens Dog Park – was not to ensure that they maintain a proper “two gate” buffer entrance, but rather to “adhere” the busted fence out of the way. As you might have predicted in your head, yes – two dogs already “escaped” and ran towards the kiddie area of the park. Let’s just hope that they were friendly pooches.
Knowing this city, the owners would probably receive a ticket for that, too. Thank God they don’t have “dog boots.”
Stevens Dog Park in Hoboken a disgrace
Hoboken411 reader Andrea frequents the Stevens Dog Park regularly. And she shares what a mockery it has become for dog owners in the Mile Square:
“A group of us regulars are at Stevens dog park. The entrance gate has been collapsing for months now. The dog walker has been repairing it as best he could. Recently the dog walker had to tie a rope to hold the gate up & keep it from falling on people. The parks department came, took down the rope per order of Leo Pellegrini. Without the rope the gate is basically hanging. The entire gate has to be lifted to get in & out. There are elderly people trying to get in with their dogs & the gate is falling on them. There is going to be a lawsuit I’m sure!”
This is what is annoying about the whole situation. The citizens try themselves to keep the park usable, and the city comes in and slaps them on the wrist essentially.. “you can’t do that.” Good news is that (somebody’s) property taxpayer dollars will be improving this park in the future. Surely they’ll use the cheapest materials that require another fix soon enough. You see, that is how government keeps themselves useful, by planning for things to break and get repaired just in time for another ribbon-cutting…
Hoboken really dog friendly?
Welp. So much for Hoboken being the “dog-friendliest city in the country.” Have you ever seen anyone really care for these parks? They sanitize them, what, once every couple years? Some good that does. I’ve heard several dogs have recently suffered from bacterial infections from laying down in certain runs in town. But we have bike lane paint. Very important.
