Rumored Parks meeting this Thursday?

12/11/2007:

In an effort to stop Hoboken411 user “moproteus” from putting the same message up over and over, here’s what they’re trying to urgently tell you:

“ATTENTION: Everyone who wants to protect Church Square Park:

Heard a rumor that there MAY be a Parks meeting on Thursday (5:15)

Further rumored that there is heavy pressure to remove the new trees immediately (which, due to the cold weahter, will kill them) and city may cave in to the pressure.

No further details known right now. Trying to get more info and invite 411 readers to try to find out what is going on as well. Cunningham, Giachi are on the Parks & Recreation Comittee. Tell them, regardless of any pressure from any one person or any one group it is unacceptable that any trees be killed….Russo is also on the committee, but has said “off the record” that he does not approve of the trees – He may be spearheading their removal (bloody tree killer).

They have got to stop these unannounced meetings for CERTAIN PEOPLE who live in Hoboken. The issue with the park is that it is EVERYONE’S PARK AND EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A SAY. This favoritism for a few people has got to stop regarding a public space for EVERYONE.
Townie- minority or not, it’s disgusting that people actually believe children belong in bars. You just don’t seem the type to take your children to a bar to hang out, or am I wrong?

When people choose to have children, they need to choose to put their children’s needs about their own. That means if a parent wants to go to the bar, the parent gets a sitter. I have numerous friends who either do that, or one stays home while the other goes out.

If a child is at the bar, what is the child going to do: Drink diet coke while mommy slings back hers with rum in it?
I agree wholeheartedly with you Katie. Obviously hobokentownie is a jerk and I hope not a parent. Bringing children to bars is not exactly the best way for children to experience the world. They will grow up and frequent bars on their own. Give them a chance to be children in this world instead of introducing them to a bar scene before their time.

Oh my God!!! I totally agree!! That is the way I grew up and I became a decent citizen who does not feel entitled or ‘special’ or became spoiled. Good for you strand tramp!!!!!
You are just a loud know it all who has no children and appears to be angry. Additionally, if you think Strand Tramp said something intelligent, you are clearly a dope.

If the management of the bar agreed with you or thought that it disrupted business, it would probably refuse to serve a family with children. However, the demographics are changing and you are now the leader of the vocal minority.
