Water Main Break – 5th & Jefferson

Massive Water Main Break in Hoboken, NJ at 5th & Jefferson

Shortly after 2am tonight, Hoboken Police reported a giant water main break near 5th Street and Jefferson Street.

This apparently is a “above average” water main break in Hoboken, because water is either off or with very low pressure throughout the city. Additionally, cars are being moved and buildings evacuated due to basement flooding. Imagine? Basement flooding on the clearest, nicest day of the summer so far. Can’t blame Hurricane Sandy for this nonsense. Perhaps we can blame the aging infrastructure, out-of-control development and inept administration? Meanwhile, your Mayor is probably completely drunk and passed out at the moment.

The Hoboken police and fire department are on the ball – and doing a great job clearing the area and notifying residents of any impending dangers. United Water is expected to be on scene within 30 minutes.

As someone who is bound by the comment section and the POST RULES, why does the water main break become a personal attack on the mayor( drunk and passed out?).

Can you please explain the relevancy of the mayor’s condition in the middle of the night? How did you arrive at this conclusion ?

That’s a fair question. You should ask the same thing of the person in the Little Town NJ review thread who made a much nastier comment about Bush… Or at least tell us what Bush has to do with the restaurant. opinion..regard too water main breaks…Never before can so many who have lived in this city aka town, experienced so many breaks, the past 20 years..Consider the development as well as construction mishaps,pse@g hitting water mains etc..Heavy duty trailers coming in laden with loads of rebar concrete prefab forums, and such.can weaken the antiquated sewer lines and water mains . weather winter potholes never like this before. It has been said Hoboken has character, thus this is the end result. Turn the page close the book and move on.. 😕 [quote comment=”221433″]That’s a fair question. There isn’t a boil water alert in effect according to the town’s website. United Water’s website helpfully has NO information about the break at all.

We have pressure on 6th street but the water is brown.

Our water is dribbling out. Is it safe to drink? Thank god the weather is ideal.
