Public Question #5

11/7/2007:

Here’s a quick analysis of the voting breakdown for the Open Space resolution that was passed during yesterday’s election:

  • Open Space Resolution passed in 5 of the 6 wards; total 2331-1403. Remember that 352 Absentee Ballots in the 4th will likely make this victory even bigger for the Parks once the county includes them.

  • It passed in 32 of the 37 districts (passed in only 2 of the 5 districts in 3rd ward)
  • Disappointing fact: Of the 440 votes in 4-4 only 59 voted on Question #5 (40-19, in favor of it). Imagine how this could have passed if Campos stood behind it and helped to educate how valuable more open space would have benefited the residents and especially the kids in the HHA.
  • Great fact: 4-2 out of 523 votes it passed 367-72; 4-1 was 166-70; 4-3 was 91-28
  • 5th Ward was almost evenly distributed 2-1 in every district

The Republic itself was formed over 25,000 BBY when the first “Galactic Constitution” was signed on Coruscant. Whether this means that Coruscant was the original homeworld of humans or simply the most powerful world at the time is still up for debate, and there has been little said about the event other than that it occurred.

The Republic was made up of about a million worlds. The Clone Wars, which occur from 22 BBY to 19 BBY, was the first full-scale war since the formation of the Republic

The Galactic Republic is the name of the interplanetary government used in the fictional Star Wars universe prior to the establishment of the Galactic Empire. The form of this government created by the Senate, was introduced in the Prequel Trilogy. By the time of the original Star Wars trilogy, it is referred to as the Old Republic. It was a democratic, though eventually ineffectual, constitutional republic tied up in layers of bureaucracy.

The Republic, as it was commonly known, was a republican government that was able to sustain itself for over twenty-five thousand years.

It all starts with one clone……..

Stem cell research is needed to perfect cloning most people may not be aware of that. Pop cluture movies quotes that reference clones are kind of tough. I picked that one because it was recent but I could have picked that Gregory Peck movie from the 70s where he plays Dr. Josef Mengele and he clones Hitler or the Island of Dr. Maurea where he makes those freak animal & human clones or that dumb movie with Michael Keaton…

At least those Californians are funding stem cell research so there still is hope one day you will have the ability to clone yourself or just your organs.

I will need a new liver in a few more years and with cloning I won’t have to steal it from someone or buy one from Mexico.

Is that a reference to that terrible movie The Island?

I dont know what’s worse, you posting it or me recognising it.

SJ was pretty hot in that one though.

Winesnob – agreed. Much bigger problems facing this state and though I would’ve liked to have seen it pass…it’s kind of a ‘nice to have’ vs. an immediate need.
