11/10/2007:
FINAL VOTE TALLY!
“Borat” edged out “Stewie” 103-102 for third place, and the Hellish Parking sign blew out Xiaolin Monk in the fourth quarter to seal first place. I’ll email the winners individually to arrange for prize choices.
Thanks for playing!

11/9/2007:
Just in time for Thanksgiving.
Vote for the best picture out of the final 8. Top 4 receive the prizes. See pics after the jump. When I get back from going out tonight, the poll is over.

Here are the final eight pictures from all groups (in order of votes received). Poll at the bottom.
Picture 1:
Crazy Borat. ‘Nuff said.

Picture 2:
Xiaolin Monk (distant cousin of Wong Fei Hong)

Picture 3:
The infamous (and hellish) Hoboken “Temporary No Parking” sign.

Picture 4:
Not even sure what these are, Teletubbies?

Picture 5:

Picture 7:

9th street is an all too familiar place for fools from Hoboken… 20 minutes waiting for a train can feel like DAYS!

Trick for late nite path rides.
Before passing thru the turnstiles, pick up the curtosey phone and ask when the next train to Hoboken is.
If 20 mins or more, go back up and have another beer.
Repeat if necessary.

Organizer of this event, and all those who voted: This contest is a fun contest, right? Why do we need someone to cheat to become the winner of this contest? If the administrators/coordinators of this contest just view the dem_pol logs, you will see that that picture# 3 voted on him/herself on the same Computer over and over again (we’re talking 100’s of times here folks!). Just look at the hostname and/or IP address of those who voted and you will see multiple votes for picture#3 from the same PC. I thought this was supposed to be a fun event. Pix# 3 is awesome and should not need to revert to cheating to winning. Using modern technology tricks to vote many, many, many times for yourself is cool- if nobody finds out about it. But somebody did. Shame on you Pix#3 person. Enjoy your prize…loser!

FYI, I simplified my poll system to reduce load on the server. Yes, you can cheat, if you really felt like it. Most people wouldn’t take the time to stuff the ballot box for prizes like these (it wasn’t “A NEW CAR!”), but what can you do.
Next time, I will announce the groups, but have an “independent panel” of judges to make the determination, or just have a “raffle” where I assign each entry a number, and video the drawing, etc.
Was just trying to involve all the readers on both sides of the contest.
Live and learn.

Towelie says: “Aw man, I really screwed up this time. The rent’s due at the end of the month, and I don’t have any money. I need to shape up and find a new job, quick. But first, maybe I’ll get a little high. Wait. Here it goes. Good ideas comin’. Yeah. Hey yeah! I should become a blogger! If I just write a blog about my life, I can get it published on the interwebs and then make plenty of money to pay rent.”
