Hoboken Halloween Photo Contest

11/6/2007:

Yes, despite an “important” election in the 4th Ward today, I will be also “opening up the polls” for the Halloween picture contest today. Why not. If I wait any longer, it’ll be Christmastime already. Also, maybe it’ll get people “in the mood to vote”? Why not have a distraction, right?

Well, I finally figured out how to set the voting up here.

The premise:

 • 25 acceptable entries were received (out of over 40).
 • The photos were batched in the order received. Four groups, six pictures in each (7 in the last group – late entries). Groups A & B today, Groups C & D tomorrow.
 • Top TWO vote getters in each group (as of midnight Thursday) go on to the final round of 8 on Friday, where the TOP FOUR vote-getters win the prizes. One day of final voting only, winner determined when I get home from going out on Friday night.

Keep an eye out for Group C. The stiffest competition of all the groups.

Thanks for putting up with these silly contests, and try to have a little sense of humor today, we NEED IT!

Another fun Hoboken411 Giveaway/Contest.

Halloween 2007 Photo Contest

Submit your 2007 Halloween photos, and have a chance to win some fun Hoboken prizes! From bar tabs, to free haircuts, to jewelry, watches, various gift certificates and more! More details about the prizes later.

I’m still developing how this contest will work. I’m leaning towards a “user poll” voting system, where the readers will pick their favorite picture. Depending on the number of entries, I may do this “NCAA Tournament” bracket style, with photos receiving their “ranking” in the order received.

Rules:

 1. Photos must be from this year, preferably at notable location in Hoboken. If you can’t prove it’s from Hoboken (say at an apartment), having a sign that says “411” in the picture will help. Can be pets or humans, individual or group shots. Give details of the date, time & event.
 2. No X-rated pics please. R-rated is ok. No Photoshopping!
 3. One entry per person. Must be a REGISTERED Hoboken411 reader. You can register here.
 4. Photos must be received by November 2, 2007. Send (as an attachment) to Hoboken411@gmail.com
 5. Prizes awarded for the top 4 pictures. Exact prizes to be detailed here shortly.

411 – how about posting the 15 or so “unacceptable” entries at another location!! That’s what we really want to see.

emarche, you are funny, but you wouldn’t be able to pull it off. You are to small and weak! and you have a bad body out coming off of you or is it your mouth?
Hoboken411 Parade! Dress as your favorite 411 posters. I’m thinking about going as Cracker.
How would you do a colonblow costume?

I’m going to dress as a ghost and hang out at the Jebus shrine – I might take a cross with me to put up next to the shrine as a symbol of hope and unity.

I think Angelo Andriani should automatically win for his early submission.

Give him a gift certificate to C-Town.
So if say somebody cut some eye holes out of a white paper napkin and held it in front of his face that would not be a good costume?
Only if you worked for the HPD…
