2013: The year of the pothole?

Will 2013 be the year of the pothole in Hoboken, NJ?

Any ordinary person who drives, must know that Hoboken is quite possibly one of the worst cities when it comes to potholes.

Whether it’s utility work from PSE&G, water main breaks repaired by United Water, or just general deterioration and lack of sensible maintenance plans – your skull is rattled no matter which roads you take in, out and around town.

While some delusional politicians might utter ridiculous phrases like “the year of the parks,” residents with an ounce of common sense would have no problem declaring 2013 “the year of the pothole.”

I’d say it’s safe to predict a lot more scenes like below in Hoboken this year…

I struck a pothole uptown yesterday evening that f*d my car up pretty bad. Definitely feels wobbly. Do residents who suffer like this have any recourse with the city? How does that process work?

Yeah, my gf was driving me to the PATH station to get into NYC for a job interview. We were on Observer Highway in the Right lane and we hit a giant pothole (we had to way to swerve or even see it until it was too late). My right wheel was badly damaged, my tie rods on the right passenger side (inner and outer) were shot, and the alignment was horrible. It cost me 400 bucks to get it repaired. This is on the right lane on Observer Highway going East and it was in the Garden St. area. Beware of this pothole. It can and WILL do a lot of damage to your car!
