A Hoboken Tale
Merry Christmas Eve Hoboken!
I wanted to share this perfect Hoboken Christmas moment with you all.
Last weekend, I attended the “A Hoboken Tale” Christmas production that the talented crew & kids at Garden Street School of the Performing Arts put on at the Hoboken High School.
A very cute show indeed, and the story written by Dan McLoughlin was unique, charming and had lots of Hoboken references like the businesses, parking and much more. Reminded you of many of the Christmas classics over the past decades.
But one thing that stood out most – was an ORIGINAL Christmas song that Dan’s wife Annie wrote called “Why don’t we go caroling on Christmas Eve?” It truly is rare to hear a NEW, yet traditional sounding Christmas tune these days. Stuck in my head, that’s for sure!
Enjoy and have a Merry Christmas tomorrow!
Garden Street School of Performing Arts: A Hoboken Tale
The show features classic holiday music, original songs and about 80 local Hoboken kids dancing and singing.
“This is a story about supporting your community by shopping locally and getting ourselves back to the values that really matter,” says McLoughlin.
The story centers around Mr. Fabrini, a local shop owner who is struggling to keep his shop open. Times are tough, but he may have a few “magic” tricks up his sleeve to bring the town he loves together. In the age of holiday commercialism and obsession with technology, Mr. Fabrini gives his neighbors life lessons that endure – like the healing power that music brings. The troupe will show this through song, dance and the story of hope for a small town that comes together during the holidays and every day of the year!
“A Hoboken Tale” makes it’s debut performance at Hoboken High School, December 16th at 2PM. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for children. Call (201) 683-9100 or email email@example.com. Also check out gardenstreetmusic.com
Without a doubt, this is the “MUST SEE“ holiday production of 2012. I have never seen such an original, well written, locally-specific show ever presented here in Hoboken. While we’ve had great shows regardless – but you have never seen anything as special as this.
I hope everyone enjoys this special production!
