Giant bill to replace parking meter robots!

Believe it or not – those fancy parking muni-meters that are all over town – are now costing property taxpayers almost $210,000 after Hurricane Sandy. 29 of the units were damaged and need to be repaired or replaced.

Wow, you’d think that the city would have some kind of insurance on these things? And hopefully we’re not going to buy the exact same models, because they’re obviously not capable of handling bad weather. Are these meters just an ongoing liability to the city? And what happened to the old meters?
