Azra is a great bartender

10/9/2007:

This is Ian’s submission for last month’s Hoboken411 Yankees ticket giveaway!

He’s taken a liking to the new staff over at Liberty Bar & Grill. He submitted a very cool photo of one of their bartenders, Azra.

“Hey 411–

Being a regular and going to a bar regularly are worlds apart. I’ve vowed in the past not to be a “regular” anywhere (for reasons we don’t have to go into). But Liberty Bar & Grill has become my local pub for a few reasons, and ultimately, it comes down to the staff. Attentive, quick with a joke, drink or a smile, they made me believe again.”

Could not agree more- stopped going there when they raised the prices for the 3rd time in 2 years… It is such a shame because the place could do so well if ran differently- it already does well in spite of the management. The cook there has a good personality for the business, but his hands are probably tied. Exactly right- at the end of the meal with a few cocktails, you will spend as much as Madison and have a MUCH better meal.

I totally agree that Liberty is a cheap place with disregard for its customers- but what incentive does this tramp have to change, the place is always packed with idiots. Never seems to me they are hurting at all.

No, they aren’t.

Although you may believe they are if you go to Liberty.

As if the lack of buybacks wasn’t enough they also have the most expensive beer in town. 6 dollars for a blue moon. Their mix drinks are weak and expensive as well.

The owner doesn’t seem to understand that treating your customers well actually makes them come back. She should talk to John at Bistro and get some pointers.

I hit Liberty as a regular…Azra is a sweet girl and I think by now she knows that I am in love with her…

..but anyhow….

…the issue with liberty is that the house is waaaaaaay cheap…she nickel and dimes the shit out of her customers…as abundantly stated there are no buybacks…in fact there is nothing for free…ask for cup of bbq sauce with your meal: bang! $.50 added…

i expect nothing for free up front…but as a service business the house has to give a bit…as well the food prices are out of line when you compare them to Madison across the street…madison has an actual chef making actual food which is proportionally cheaper and better quality…

liberty will continue to survive simply becuase there is nothing uptown for us uptown dwellers to go to that is not overly pretentious and has a tv that is bigger than a postage stamp…

oh well…if arza leaves liberty i will follow but i will probably still go to liberty because i am lazy as hell and dont feel like walking the mile square for a beer…even if it is a 6 dollar guiness

I went to Liberty one night when I met up with acquaintances. I was bored so I left after one drink and went home. On the way home I realized I’d forgotten my card at the bar and didn’t close out. My cell was dead so I figured I’d wait and call the next day and go pick it up.
I went the next night with a friend and we decided to eat. I went to pay for it with the card I just got back from them and it was declined. It turns out they reported it stolen. Of course they made sure they charged it for the drink I had the night before first.
I’ve worked in bars and never heard of such a thing. I complained to Dawn and she just denied it.

She is a scumbag and so are the people she generally hires.
