Blinded by the light…

Bright LED street lamps installed at Elysian Park in Hoboken

Elysian Park uptown is one of my favorite parks in Hoboken.

Regardless – this park has seen its share of issues over the past couple years, mainly with the troubled electrical infrastructure that typically leaves most (if not all) of the park in the dark at night.

Well, PSE&G recently added new high-efficiency (and incredibly bright) LED spotlight-style lamps to new locations throughout the park. While many patrons of the park appreciate the restoration of some light (for added security), some feel that it’s almost too bright and “stadium” like. I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

But recently, the State of NJ awarded some extra grants for upgrades at Elysian – so perhaps we’ll see further improvements.

Maybe this is why they wrote a song about sunglasses at night?

Yeah, right. It’ll take one of these la la’s getting ripped off from their cel phone or electronic device ,and then they’ll be screaming for the next “step up” from stadium lights.

Went running through the park last night, and wow! Big improvement!! I’m so pleased to see this finally happened.

Does crime happen in the park at night often?
