Reader Mail: Chased from Maxwell Place

Here’s an email received from a parent who’s kid was kicked out of the park at Maxwell Place this past Saturday, September 29th.

“So much for the park at Maxwell Place being open to the public. My son and his high school aged friends were just kicked off the grass where they were playing football. Heaven forbid they disturb the residents. I guess if they weren’t kids they would have been told to keep the noise down, instead they were told to go home. A police officer came and told them they had to leave. So they did. Are public parks closed at 10 PM? There are no signs. I mentioned it to a friend who said some other kids had been chased off another night – he didn’t know what time.”

In fact, this reader has a point. There was nothing wrong about the kids playing touch football there at 9:30-10:00pm.

According to Hoboken Code, all parks are open until 11pm through September 30th. Starting October 1st and through June 1st, parks are technically closed from 10:00pm-6:00am. Additionally, juveniles are allowed to be out till 11:59pm on Saturday nights year-round.

Sure, it may have only been an hour, but it’d be nice if both the complaining resident at Maxwell Place as well as the responding officer knew the laws of the city they live in and serve.

Dude! Pretty amazing visual recall from like seven months ago. The rig is in the shot for about a nanosecond and you call it up on cue. Amazing. You should work for the CIA or something. Hilarious.
No thanks, I hate Virginia. But it would get me closer to the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, NC. I’d move for the downhill corkscrews and counter steering around Fugitive Bridge at Cheoah Dam. Otherwise, forgettaboutit.

RE: the Dodge Ram… I recall emarche mentioning it was his buddy’s truck, and that he would mess the guy up if he found him. 💡
I would ask Amadou. Love to, if he had simply answered the cops, he would. Instead, he got mistaken for a serial rapist that had been terrorizing the neighborhood, and paid a terrible price for not answering.

And you call yourself a lawyer? Ever heard of Miranda rights? The right to remain silent? The right to counsel? So if you don’t answer a cop, they have the right to torture you?

Yeah, progressives stand for human rights too. And strongly condemn torture as well. I thought people who passed the bar exam were swarm to protect these rights. So much for that. Thanks for so tellingly proving my point.

there is something very transient about that green space with the cement tree pots that can be removed quickly…. looks like they may just change that.
