Brother Jimmy’s BBQ?

Update: Spoke with BroJ’s today, and unfortunately this location was just a rumor, although they have been looking for a spot in Hoboken.

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ may come to Hoboken, NJ

We’ve been wondering what would be a good replacement for the closed Lana Lounge location downtown at Newark and River Streets.

And thanks to Hoboken411 reader John, we now know that a Brother Jimmy’s BBQ bar restaurant is next!

Brother Jimmy’s is a pretty famous institution, with five NYC locations, as well as Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Miami Beach and another new location in New Brunswick, NJ opening soon.

In business for over 20 years, their mission statement is to “bring “down home” cooking, hospitality and merriment to the heart of the Northeast…”

Are you excited about Brother Jimmy’s coming to town?

Description: Southern BBQ bar & restaurant. Online ordering available.
Address: 92 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

The whole shake-up in that area is strange.

I’m upset about Oddfellows closing down to become another crappy Mexican restaurant.

Could not agree more with you about crappy Mexican at Oddfellows. Didn’t even know that was going out.
The whole shake-up in that area is strange.I’m upset about Oddfellows closing down to become another crappy Mexican restaurant.
I live a block from there and couldn’t be happier that Lana Lounge is dead and gone forever. I just assumed that they were just going to put in another fist pumping club/bar that would be a catalyst for a big brawl every Friday and Saturday night on River St. This is just fantastic news.

this is the best news i’ve heard in a while! not only are we getting a legit restaurant (that hopefully won’t disappear in 6 months) but it’s BBQ! something we’ve been missing! i love the ones in the city. it’s no Back Country, but i will happily frequent Bro Jims! @homeworld, that’s really sad about Oddfellows! i noticed that it’s been quite empty lately… was worried about that…

Highly unlikely it would be anything else but a restaurant or fast food joint, but have to agrree that anything there exept Lana’s or another bar is an improvement.
this is the best news i’ve heard in a while! not only are we getting a legit restaurant (that hopefully won’t disappear in 6 months) but it’s BBQ! something we’ve been missing! i love the ones in the city. it’s no Back Country, but i will happily frequent Bro Jims! @homeworld, that’s really sad about Oddfellows! i noticed that it’s been quite empty lately… was worried about that…
Clearly you’ve never been to a Brother Jimmy’s after about 9 o’clock. Its a bar alright, complete with plenty of loud, drunken people. It’d be perfect for Hoboken and I hope they find a location that suits them.
Highly unlikely it would be anything else but a restaurant or fast food joint, but have to agrree that anything there exept Lana’s or another bar is an improvement.
I’m glad that we get some BBQ, even if it is lowbrow. For some reason BJ’s locations have never learned how to properly make pulled pork, but it is definitely as step up from Fist Pumpers R Us.
