New PATH schedule

Newly updated PATH timetables go into effect today. Although one reader believes that there are new 15 minute schedules for late night to Hoboken, I still see 30 minutes after midnight on the timetable portion of the website.

From the Port Authority:

“New Timetables will be available this weekend in all PATH Stations and online at www.panynj.info/path for schedule changes effective September 23, 2007.

And a reader wrote in:

“Hi,

Transportation’s evolution has brought us life many altering advances:

 • 3500 B.C. wheels on carts
 • 1908 Ford’s assembly line accelerates car production
 • 9/23/2007 PATH train runs every 15 minutes late nights back to Hoboken!

Rejoice!”

Am I missing something?
I think the biggest problem now is no direct service from Hoboken to World Trade on weekends. If they can’t run the trains directly due to World Trade site / station construction, they really should operate the ferry from Hoboken to World Trade on WEEKENDS…
Agree 100%. The lack of any kind of direct service to lower Manhattan on weekends continues to be a major inconvenience, and dissapointment in service. Even if they ran a direct train only every 30 mins or so on a regular schedule would be better than the scattered transfers you need to make on weekends.

anyone ever participate in their advisory committee? i tried a year ago, but was told that i HAD to commit every weeknight for an entire WEEK to evening meetings, and that was all the meetings for the whole year. For many people it’s just not possible to commit all those consecutive nights. Makes me think they really don’t WANT anyone advising them!

These PATH “schedules” always struck me as works of fiction anyway. I can recall several times waiting for at least an hour at 33rd after midnight on a weekend while the schedule told me I’d be waiting 20 minutes tops.

This new schedule seems worse.

It used to be every 15 min on Sundays until 3:12am, now it’s only until 2:28am.

A 15 minute schedule at that time would be nice, but when would they ever do repairs or work on the tracks? Having a 24-hour transit system is fantastic, but they need to time to keep the system going.
