Hoboken beer options for Oktoberfest 2012

The long-time German tradition may be called Oktoberfestbut it actually starts in September!

Hoboken411 rounds up a few solid options you have to get your “bier” game on this year – from massive biergartens to authentic German restaurants. Click here for more Oktoberfest fun in Hoboken.

Pilsener Haus & Biergarten 2nd annual Oktoberfest

Pilsener Haus & Biergarten (15th & Grand) present their second annual Oktoberfest Friday, September 14th through the end of October.

Special Oktoberfest Biers will be offered, including traditional German brews, premium imports and American Craft beer. See full Bier list here.

To accompany your bier of choice, Viennese Chef Thomas Ferlesch offers Austro-Hungarian favorites, including: Cod Filet Schnitzel, Schweinshaxe, Kasespatzle, Hungarian Beef Goulash, Apple Strudel and more!

You might want to take off work early this Friday to get prime seating since the fun starts at 3pm!

Helmers’ is Hoboken’s only authentic German bar!

You don’t need Oktoberfest to enjoy “authentic German” anything with Helmers’ (11th and Washington) in your neighborhood – but they’re kicking off the 10th month early this week with a Hofbrau beer night on Thursday, September 13th starting at 7pm.

Hopefully by then – they’ll have a NEW German flag out front, because the one they have now – is ratty, faded and worn! How disrespectful!!

Stein Hoisting competition at Village Pourhouse

Festivities at Village Pourhouse downtown haven’t been finalized yet – but they do have an event leading up to Oktoberfest. A Samuel Adams Oktoberfest Stein Hoisting Competition this Thursday, September 13th from 7pm to 8pm.

Oktoberfest stein giveaways (first 50 customers) and $4 Sam Adams drafts all night – the competition will go from 7pm to 8pm. One male and one female winner will be crowned the VPH champ – they will qualify to go on to the next round in this national competition and could win a trip to Oktoberfest!

Saints Peter & Paul Church 2nd annual Oktoberfest

Following up last year’s inaugural festivities, Saints Peter & Paul Church is hosting their 2nd Annual Hoboken Oktoberfest next month.

It’ll be from noon until 10pm on October 13th just outside Saints Peter & Paul Church on 404 Hudson. There will be food vendors, a beer garden, music & entertainment and a kids village.

Bonus this year: They’re pleased to announce a Beer Garden Preview Night: October 12th, from 6pm to 10pm.

Enjoy!
