Brunch for Breast Cancer Awareness
Keynote Speaker: Cancer survivor Lillie Shockney
The Board of Trustees of the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention will convene a Sunday Brunch on October 28, 2012 beginning at 10:00am at the W Hotel (225 River Street).
Celebrating October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Brunch will feature keynote speaker, Lillie Shockney, a breast cancer survivor and nationally recognized speaker and published author on breast cancer. She serves as the Director of Education and Outreach at Johns Hopkins Breast Center.
According to Carol Trojan, Executive Director of the Foundation, “The primary goal of the Brunch is to raise awareness of breast cancer and the treatments available. Secondly, it is the perfect time to introduce the Hoboken community to the services available through the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention.”
The mission of the Foundation is to make cancer prevention programs available to underserved sectors of the community and to grant access to the test and/or screening necessary for individuals who may otherwise be denied. “Our hope is to enrich the life of every individual in need, one at a time,” continued Trojan.
Screenings and tests covered by the Foundation include: mammography, colonoscopy, and PSA. An application ensures that the applicant is not covered by insurance and a prescription for the requested screening is required.
The cost of the ticket for the brunch is $50. They can be purchased through the MFL Foundation at 201-437-9100 or online at www.mflfoundation.com. Anyone interested in serving on the Brunch Committee may also call. For more information about the MFL Foundation, visit www.MFLfoundation.com.
As part of the brunch there will be an opportunity to enjoy a private shopping experience with local vendors offering a wide variety of merchandise.
