Chipotle Mexican Grill in Hoboken hopes to open by Halloween

Spoke with the management at Chipotle Mexican Grill at 229 Washington Street yesterday – and they were excited to announce that the expected opening date will be October 31st – Halloween!

Things were moving along nicely, they reported – and that no major issues in the spot that was formerly home to Bayonne Community Bank.

Additionally, they said that prep time is quite efficient – that you can go from placing your order to prep to plate in a minute or less. That would be a huge improvement over many other establishments in Hoboken.

Dressing up for Halloween? Eat for $2 at Chipotle Mexican Grill

You going to be walking around dressed up on Halloween this year?

Stop by in your costume after 4pm to get a super discounted burrito for only $2. You can also get a bowl, salad or tacos too. Proceeds (up to $1 million) are going to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. And even if something halts the construction progress at the Hoboken Chipotle – you can always go to any of the locations for this deal.

There is also a photo costume contest – where you can win up to $2500! Enter here – www.chipotle.com/boorito.

Have fun!

Chipotle Mexican Grill getting closer to opening in Hoboken

9/8/2012 Update:

Chipotle Mexican Grill which will open soon at 229 Washington Street had an exciting milestone in their construction progress: A retail sign delivery!

One Hoboken411 reader sent these pics in – and reminded those who shy away from chains (like us), that “the food is fresh and in some cases even organic!”

We will certainly give them a shot!

Chipotle Mexican Grill – 229 Washington St. – Hoboken, NJ

8/15/2012:

Chipotle Mexican Grill has been on the list of what Hoboken residents felt they wanted in this town for a very long time.

Well – they’re coming to the former Bayonne Community Bank spot at 229 Washington Street.

Perfect spot, too – because now they can share the drunk weekend fights with McDonald’s which is right across the street.

(Thanks, Lauren for the tip!)

Yahoo! The only fast food place I’ll eat in. Fresh, quality ingredients and so tasty. Been wanting this for awhile.

    I look forward to this.
Interesting article in a recent Business Week discussed Chipotle operations. Their restaurants dont even have freezers- all food is fresh and prepared on site daily. They also source their pork from Niman Ranch- same place a lot of high end restaurants across the country use. Really impressive.

They also use local and organic produce whenever possible. I can definitely see myself eating here once a week or so. [quote comment=”216774″]I look forward to this. Maybe they will get queso delivered from Qdoba, that may make me go there instead.

I checked out their website and they have an impressive nutrition calculator, that lets you build your dish to see the contents.. Looking forward to trying their salads. Hopefully they can open sooner rather than later – lots of work still to do inside from what I saw.

awesome!. This will do really well here. They’re all over NYC and it’s good!!

Last year Chipotle knowingly hired over 500 illegal aliens. In an opinion piece in the wsj late last year their ceo stated that what the usa needs is more low wage labor. This way companies like Chipotle can privatize profits and let the rest of society pay for the costs.

Kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Not really sure what the hype is over this place, it is just as bad a Qudoba. Small, poor quality portions, I just don’t get it. This seems like it has the pre-launch hype of Windmill, another place that people later discovered actually had poor food.

    • BklynHobo says:

Couldn’t be more wrong. The quality at Chipotle is much, much better. Their Carnitas are great. No comparison to Qdoba.[quote comment=”216781″]Not really sure what the hype is over this place, it is just as bad a Qudoba. Small, poor quality portions, I just don’t get it. Have to disagree. I have three within blocks of my office and the food is Qudoba or below.

The march towards remaking Hoboken into the Jersey suburbs image continues. The quest will only be complete when this administration has successfully banned any adults who do not have children from using any parks, widened the sidewalks for even bigger, more expensive baby tanks and outlawing cars. What does Chipotle have to do with kids and strollers? Seems like some people like to complain about young transient people in town, but then complain when other people want to stay and raise their kids in town too. Guess what- half of my household are “B n R”- born right in St Mary’s. You don’t own the town. Go complain somewhere else. [quote comment=”216788″]Have to disagree. I see the new slogan…..”Come to Hoboken and Eat Middle America Chain Food Now”

I actually prefer Qdoba to Chipotle. Love it! Qdoba food has more spices and flavor, and they have a wider variety of options on the menu.

  10. mrfreddy says:

Chipotle has the best low carb options I know of out of all that fast food nonsense out there. I always get the burrito bowl, just a tiny bit if rice and beans (we’re talking tablespoon portions), double meat (barbacoa usually), sour cream, cheese, hot salsa, guacamole. That’s a satisfying lunch! And about half the time they forget to charge you for the extra meat, haha.

Home Team, are you really that stupid?? The only reason there are decent parks in Hoboken is because us “YUPPIES” with kids made it happen!!

    • whineanddineinhob says:

Before you start calling people “stupid”, maybe you should get your act together. The only thing you YUPPIES with kids have done is make it difficult for EVERYONE in this town to enjoy our PARKS. What you’ve selfishly done, was change many of our parks into PLAYGROUNDS. There’s a difference. So watch some of the complaints at council meetings when they’re discussing PARKS, and be aware that you’ve DIVIDED a community, and NOT contributed to it.[quote comment=”217043″]Home Team, are you really that stupid??
