Giant stage erected at Pier A Park

Stage Set for Mumford & Sons concert in Hoboken, NJ

Today, crews closed half of Pier A Park in Hoboken to set up for the Mumford & Sons concert on August 1st. Looks like a big sophisticated operation.

Where will the homeless people that hang out on the pier get chased to?

A few people emailed 411 with concerns that this last bit of park space is getting taken away from residents, and hope that the “free” park doesn’t regularly disappear just for concerts for paying out of town customers.

By law they cannot they legally close the waterfront walkway portion of the park. The law requires that there is free, unobstructed access to the Walkway 24 hours a day. Even during All Points West in Liberty State Park the walkway was kept open.

That’s where I’m going to go watch the concert for free tomorrow.

If you’re going to watch the concert from the walkway, don’t you think you would be obstructing access to the walkway?
