Global Mala Project
September 22nd at Pier A
Devotion Yoga in Hoboken and other Yoga studios across NJ rise for peace in action with 9/21-9/23 Worldwide Global Mala Project.
Global Mala Project & Devotion Yoga Join Forces
Global Mala was conceived by world renowned yoga instructor Shiva Rea, as a grass roots way to raise awareness and funding for some of today’s worldwide issues including the environment, AIDS, poverty and war. This worldwide mala coincides with the UN’s International Day of Peace and the Fall Equinox and will be an annual event. In over 108 cities and countries around the world, yoga studios and communities are coming together to form one great heartfelt, vibratory mala in support of our important world issues.
In the Garden State, 19 yoga studios and their instructors are participating across 21 cities and towns. (Complete studio listing at end of article). Yoga communities have created many wonderful and inspiring types of activities and rituals to participate in over the weekend including making your own mala , 108 minutes of mediation, 108 sun salutations, kirtan, 108 rounds of a mantra, yoga on the beach, 108 sun salutations on the pier overlooking NYC, yoga trance dance, 108 yoga poses (asanas) and so much more. It will be inspiring, heart warming, transforming and most importantly, a wonderful way for communities in our Garden State to come together as ONE and making a difference to help on both a local and worldwide level. Each yoga center has chosen a charity or charities that resonates with them and their community including Trees for the Future, War Child, Youth Aids, RED.
Devotion Yoga is hosting a one-of-a-kind yoga event on Pier A in Hoboken on Saturday, September 22nd and will involve a series of 108 sun salutations as students enjoy practicing yoga outside overlooking the New York City skyline! The event will start at 1:00pm. A donation of $27 is suggested to help support funds being raised for War Child International, a network of independent organizations working across the world to help children affected by war. Visit www.warchild.org for more information. Cash or checks will be accepted on location (no credit cards) or you can register online at www.devotionyoga.com or call 201-610-YOGA to make a donation with a credit card.
