Foot run over by car

14th and Bloomfield.

A woman reports a car ran over her foot. “Ouch”.

She should be lucky she wasn’t completely squished to smithereens.

Well…the above postings just reinforce the current Hoboken gestalt….

On other recent threads, as well….

Blurred boundaries rule!!

Whether at the crosswalks, within City government….

So it would seem it’s about citizens taking a Wild West/Take No Prisoners personae, whether on the street or at City Hall!

Yee-Hah!!

Perhaps Fox5 can come back w/out a conga-line, forcing pedestrians into oncoming traffic, while the assigned HPD officer is oblivious….

How about creating a new series that melds “Deadwood” with some reality TV of parking in Hoboken, trailing hedge fund manager pub-crawlers, folks shop-vac-ing the raw sewerage from basements, or some combo, thereof?

Set it up, so the show’s residuals finance green-space purchase!!
Pedestrians have the right of way at intersections. Period, It is the law in New Jersey and in most of this country. You want to wave cars along to prevent polution, good for you. If you want to prevent polution walk, take public transportation. If you walk in Hoboken you are made aware every day that drivers don’t care if they kill you. Those octagonal red signs have no meaning to them.

haven’t you heard? those red octagonal signs that have a white border are stopptional signs.

I wish that more pedestrians were like you. I, too, usually wait for lights in this town, and I never stand in the street. I’ve already seen two pedestrians get hit by cars, one on Lex. in Midtown, the other right across from the PATH. No mystery about it, the person goes down like an unceremonious bag of meat. Can’t understand why more folks don’t grasp the concept that 150 lbs. of meat doesn’t stand a chance against 4000 pounds of steel.

I am the type to wait for the cross signal, but sometimes it seams safer to cross against the light because the cars have the green light at the same time as you get the walk signal. I always make sure the car can see me now before I cross at that spot or any other spot for that matter, which I’m sure my hesitation annoys people, but I would prefer to not get killed trying to cross the street.
Like it really matters who has the right of way after some dumb pedestrian gets clipped by a car. Stupid is as stupid does and I have to say most of these pedestrians who think having the right of way protects them from getting hit by a car are pretty dumb. And pedestrians do not universally have the right of way. They do not have the right of way to cross (or even enter) an intersection when the crosswalk signal says “do not cross” and traffic has a green light to go through. A perfect example is all those folks who get off the PATH and try to cross the street when the cars have a green light to go through the intersection and then wonder why the cars won’t stop……DUH! I so wish it were legal to just run those folks down. Follow the signals and you won’t get your foot run over!
