River Street paving set for next week

Milling done on River St. in Hoboken – paving set to begin

Asphalt paving is the next step for the River Street resurfacing project downtown. It is supposed to start on Monday – but with the chance for some rain, we’ll see how that affects the timing. Either way, this project is hopefully coming to an end soon. Why Washington Street constantly gets over-looked is mind numbing.

Thank God the asinine jackhammering in the middle of the night quickly got shut down (credit that ear-rattling video a 411 reader sent in!)

Well, there were signs in our building that there would be free parking provided in the garages on Hudson btwn 2nd and 3rd and the garage with the entrance on 2nd btwn 2nd & River. So that was my plan all along. I get home from work(there i construction on the exit ramp on 495, so that was a whole different nightmare) and the lot on Hudson is full. So I have to go the wrong way do 2nd t get into the other garage since all other entry points are closed off. All is fine. The place is across the street from my building. We’re told if we show proof that we live there we can park for free overnight, problem solved, right? NOPE! The asshats were making everyone pay the 30 bucks this morning, and what can we do? Our cars are inside, we need to get to work, so we just got hit with a bait and switch by the assholes that run the garage. Bunch of pieces of garbage. They said “Oh, we offered free parking for the night of the 18th only.” Even though the paving got delayed until yesterday because of weather conditions. So we all basically got screwed out of $30 because we were told we could park there for free.

So today they are repaving that road, which will obviously block off River between 2nd & 4th…AND it’s Hoboken’s Memorial Day parade, so getting around downtown is going to be quite the nightmare. Awesome! Can’t wait to get home from work and figure out how to navigate this disaster.

You can avoid the mess by choosing to park in one of the fringe garages and walk. The peace of mind might be worth the 30 bucks.[quote comment=”215725″]So today they are repaving that road, which will obviously block off River between 2nd & 4th…AND it’s Hoboken’s Memorial Day parade, so getting around downtown is going to be quite the nightmare. …was River St in serious, desperate need of resurfacing? I know everyone is up in arms about the condition of Washington Street, and I agree, it’s a floppy roller-coaster of fun. However, has anyone considered other ‘major’ arteries (capillaries?) of our town: Clinton (from 1st to 8th+) Madison St, Monroe (6th to newark/observer), and we all love the stretch of Observer hwy right? And most likley more, I haven’t a “needs to be paved now” map. I’m not touting streets only I drive on. I’ve been in Hoboken for the past 14 years, watching the roads go to shite. And now I’m upset, noticing that the city is ignoring the much-needed repair of some streets, and decided to do an all-out blitz of PAINTING BIKE LANES INSTEAD OF PAVING – so now you know that since the lanes are painted on these shitroads, the city can ignore any potential repairs needed. SAFE for all… Thanks for listening. Is there a city hall meeting soon to complain about this nonsense?

I got stuck in traffic driving by the PATH the other day. This is exactly why..and that stupid light. At least that street will be fixed soon. The old Hoboken taxis going over the potholes on that street were unbearable.
