Hoboken to GWB and back

How does Hoboken look from the George Washington Bridge?

From pretty much any point on the Hoboken waterfront, the mighty George Washington Bridge to our north is clearly visible. The picture below is a shot taken from Pier A Park.

But have you ever wondered what the opposite view is?

I have! So the next step was to see what Hoboken would look like exactly from the middle of the bridge (where the arrow is below).

Hoboken is a tiny speck from the GWB!

The other day, we took a spin up to the GWB and walked across the span. The distance between the picture above and below – is only 8.8 linear miles!

The conditions were rough. It was late in the afternoon, air quality was not perfect – and there must have been a consistent, unwavering southerly wind speed of between 40 and 50 mph, making camera work extra difficult.

From the naked eye – you can barely make out Pier A Park! Proof you need to be massive to be seen from a distance.

Even with a modest zoom, Hoboken is still not so clear. Next time, I’ll bring a better lens. Whoops!

Below are some other random shots I took during my brief stay as a GWB visitor. How many of you walk the bridge?
