Daylight robbery caught on video

August
Recognize these two thieving thugs? If so, it could be worth $500 if you can get the stolen laptop back.
In the early afternoon today over at 225 Monroe Street, two suspects were filmed entering a home that was having work done on it. Little did they know that the contractor was inside. They got away with a laptop and appeared to be scoping that circular saw that was in the front as well.
This serves as a reminder that you can be robbed at any time!

“About 45 minutes ago two guys tried to steal a chop saw outside my job site at 225 Monroe.
While scouting it out one went inside and snagged a laptop which I was using.
Called the cops three times and before they came. One of the detectives from Hoboken PD came out and said he knew them so I keep hope that they will get them.
Not sure if the typical Hoboken reader is in the right circle that knows these thugs but if anything it brings to light that a break-in like this can happen in a minute. Sure I had the door open but my guys were maybe 20 feet away. No different then someone propping the door open to unload groceries.”

How would one obtain a simple taser gun? Walmart?

Actually, if you live in an apartment and utilize a handgun as you primary defense weapon, I would recommend using Glazer Safty Slugs. They won’t travel through walls into other units, but will shred the interior of the intruder.

keep this in mind , if you shoot you better be ready to kill,if you only wound the shitbag you’ll be paying him for the rest of his life. so,2 shots to be sure.

I keep some things around the house in every room I can use to smash or slice up an intruder. I even have a hammer in the bathroom cabinet. It doesn’t always have to be something obvious either, if it’s heavy and you can swing it, it’ll work.
You’re better off just locking yourself in a room away from anyone who breaks in while you’re there. After all, anyone with the balls or lack of brains to do it while you are home isn’t the kind of person who will think twice about hurting or killing you.
Lock the door, make a huge racket, bang on your neighbors walls, the floor, the ceiling. You get one good shot at them if they can break that door down, but think about it, no one would stick around after you call that much attention to yourself.
I like guns, but the security issue is a problem. How do you secure it and have ready access to it? Only way to have both is replace your bedroom door with something heavy duty with a bolt lock, to give you enough time to get to it.
Then again if someone is that determined to get you and not your DVD player, you have every right to empty a clip into them.

My bedroom door is locked at night. It would give me enough time to grab it from the safe and load it.
As I said, I have given this some very careful thought, although some people on here kind of made me rethink my initial strategy. I may also invest in some strategically placed bats and hammers too this weekend.
Speaking of hammers, anyone try out the new Home Depot? Modells for a bat and HD for hammers. I have a very exciting weekend planned folks!!

This wasn’t really an issue back when my apartment was robbed. Besides not leaving cartons for new electronics visible in the garbage, it’s also a good idea not to leave shopping bags and boxes for luxurey items such Prada, Gucci, Breitling, Tag etc., visible in the garbage. I have seen this. They not only impress the neighbors, but would be thieves.

Don’t know if you were actually asking, but I hit up the new HD - slightly confusing to find the entry at first because I only had a vague idea where it was and I was trying to avoid Holland Tunnel traffic.
Very clean and staff was very friendly but give it time, I’m sure it will turn into a mess like the one on Rt3
I prefer Lowes myself.

no, I was asking….thank-you!!
I hate having to drive up to 440 each time I need something. This is the greatest thing to happen to this area. Ace Hardware just was not cutting it anymore.

Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we’re going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don’t know, I don’t know if we’ll have enough time.
I actually keep Chinese Throwing Stars every 6′ in my apartment so that I can get a clean & silent shot at the intruder. I also trained my 2 cats to act as attack cats. One fakes vomitting a hairball and the other cat sprays all over the intruder’s face. Works like a charm.
