Bad diet advice for decades

Understanding how you got bad health advice for so long…

Below is a fantastic 20 minute presentation that Fat Head Author Tom Naughton gave recently.

I’m sharing this as part of the low carb living section today – because despite the growing number of blogs, books and many real, honest Doctors desperately trying to correct the erroneous diet advice that has been repeated over the past several decades – most people still refuse to believe it. They’re stuck in a mainstream media spiral of misinformation – and that they should continue the low fat – high carb diets. Yet the country is fatter, sicker and worse off than ever!

Oh well. Here you go for your educational purposes:

The low carb diet is just as much of fad and as dangerous as a low fat / carb filled diet. What this country lacks is ambition to get off their couch, get outside, enjoy nature and be active. I’ve been a vegeterian for 3 years, which has meant no meat and dairy products and I look better and feel better than I ever did before. I’m sorry, but a diet based in dead nutrients will not sustain a healthy body. I won’t get on the “hate meat” bandwagon, but for those of you thinking meat and cheese is the way forward, you will likely pay the price later in life. A balanced diet of healthy fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains and maybe some fish from time to time will show it’s positive effects for years to come. Besides our country’s laziness, we’ve been brainwashed that boxed, canned, packaged food is okay…it’s not. Shop the edges of a grocery store and stay out of the middle isles and when you can, pick organic and locally farmed food. Fads are temporary. If we focus on lifestyle changes that center around being active and eating natural, healthy foods that you can make at home…you’ll see the change and feel better in long run!

Amen. Agreed completely. Everything in moderation… and keeping your body moving doesn’t hurt.
