HoLa Fundraiser

HoLa Charter School Fundraiser – March 13, 2012

Did you know that Charter School students in Hoboken are funded at a significantly lower cost than other students in the “regular” public school system?

They run much more efficiently and probably don’t receive enough funding despite being public schools.

The Hoboken Dual Language Charter School (“HoLa”) is holding a fundraiser next week just up the road in Weehawken. And so you know exactly what the donations will be used for, the funds they are raising at the event will help to furnish their 4th and 5th grade classrooms (for example, buy furniture, class room materials, books, and curriculum development.)

They currently have 176 children enrolled and 44 additional students have been accepted into Kindergarten in fall 2012. (At that point they’ll have K-4 and only 1 more grade to add.) See below for details.

I’m all for donating to worthy causes, but why do publicly funded places still need private money?
