Hot Hoboken

hot-hoboken-august-7-2007.gifYou might probably already be aware of this, but we’re going to have a couple of brutally hot days this week (luckily, yesterday’s 5k run wasn’t tomorrow). Let’s hope the work PSE&G did last week helps keep the power running smoothly in Hoboken.

A large portion of the eastern part of the country is under a heat advisory today. And despite the mercury in Hoboken only being in the low 90’s, the “heat indexes” (how it feels) will rise over 100 degrees:

A HEAT ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN HIGH HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO COMBINE WITH HOT TEMPERATURES TO MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 100 TO 104 DEGREES. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS… STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM… STAY OUT OF THE SUN… AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

This type of heat isn’t to be taken lightly, so use plenty of caution when working or exercising outdoors or without air conditioning today. And keep those pets hydrated too!

Refreshing the heat poll:

i know i’m in the minority, that’s why i always lose on this one. but personally when i’m cold i just sit still and don’t want to move and dream about going home to my bed so i can be under the covers.
I have to agree with thebin on this one. It’s pretty cold in my office, but I try to conserve my leaving a lot of lights off (like the building asks.) I honestly don’t know why they keep it SO cold though, even some of the guys in the office are chilly. But whatever, it’s better than being hot as balls, which it usually is in the winter.
The drones work harder when it is cold. When it is hot it is nap time.

I will take a cold office over a warm one any day or any season. Who wants work next to someone sweating through their shirts. At least when your cold you don’t smell bad.

65 sounds too cold for work, although it sounds like great sleeping temperature. I would say the best zone for working productivity is right around 68-70. If its above 72 or 73, I am taking a nap after lunch.
