People can’t drive anymore

Another scene of yet more parked cars that got smashed on First St. between Grand and Clinton. Not sure what the deal here was (drunk driver, big truck, wheel fell off?), but two cars were taken out on the south side.
Straight line folks. What is so difficult about that? What are people doing while they’re driving? Knitting?

I was walking down garden between 2nd & 3rd today.
A minivan flew past me and went over the Speed hump at about
40 MPH.
actually got airborn landed & swerved almost taking out a parked car.
People are driving like total A-holes in this town.

I think the problem is people are not from the “city”; hence, they do not know how to drive in it!!

I just almost got mowed down crossing the north side of Park at 1st. The a-hole (Hispanic fyi) driving through the intersection (he started when I was in the middle, latino music blaring) gunned it to beat the cars coming up first street without looking to see I was in the intersection. Luckily I was looking at him and was able to jump out of the way.

Why are people in such a hurry is what I don’t understand.
If they want to drive their fast cars fast, then why not do it on a highway?

Part of the problem are the parking zones. People park right up to the corner and it’s hard to see as a driver or pedestrian whether anyone is coming.
A bigger problem – the guidos/dirtbags/ghetto kids with their ridiculous cars and stereos. And these stupid fat fucks on their harleys cranking down Washington late at night. I could go on…

How are the driver’s ethnicity and music preferences relevant?

Reggie- B/c I wouldn’t have been looking but for the blaring music.
411-I drive a sports car. I drive on average 25 mph or less, lately it’s been around 20 due to cars parked on corners, through town. On the highway, I drive very fast. You’re right, leave the speeding on the highway and drive safely through town. I also try to stop for all pedestrians, even the idiots who jump out in between parked cars.
In this instance I was right in the middle of the intersection, if there’d been a car parked on Park in the Northeast corner, he wouldn’t have been able to swerve around me (I was heading west and I jumped in that direction) and I would have gone splat. Luckily it was late enough that no one was double parked getting a Luca’s sandwich.

FWIW, I almost got mowed down in a crosswalk at 5th and Jefferson by a driver’s ed car. I was in the crosswalk and the instructor encouraged the kid to keep going and accelerate rather than slow down and stop for the pedestrian. So this is how they are teaching new drivers to drive here.

So I’m driving down jefferson and am almost to Delfino’s last night around 9. Of course, everyone is double parked so I slow down in case a car comes pulling out from the stop sign if they didn’t see me coming. I’m doing about 10mph, when all of a sudden this kid comes running in front of me. I managed to stop, but I’d bet everything I own that he didn’t look. There was a car parked illegally in front of the hydrant at the corner and he came running out in from in front of that car, did I mention it was a police car, with the officer standing about 20 feet away talking on his cell phone.
I have learned to always look to see if any cars are coming before i step foot in the street, it’s how I was taught to cross a street, I’m not defending the bad drivers in this town, but use common sense and look to see if any cars are coming. I watch people walking when I’m out and about, and people are texting while they are walking and not watching where they are going.
