Walter Barry – RIP

Hoboken’s Applied Housing Patriarch Walter Barry passes away

Hoboken411 received word today that Walter Barry – who founded Applied Housing / Applied Development has passed away.

Considered Hoboken’s waterfront development “patriarch,” the eldest Barry was well-loved by many long-time Mile Square residents. As one reader told me, “He was a wonderful man, who has helped many in Hoboken through the toughest times, with housing and many other issues. God rest his soul!”

Memorial services are apparently being held in Livingston, New Jersey this Friday.

Decades ago when we had the fires and the lack of employment and housing and
Hoboken was known as a depressed area, along came a SAINT who found ways
to help the people here. Seniors have many a Walter story of this humble and great
man. He helped thousands here. If there is a Parade in Paradise, he would be the Grand Marshall….Now he stands with G-d to receive his eternal reward….Blessings on his family,
I know he will be missed….Margaret O’Brien

Agree with you Margaret, Walter Barry did more to help people in Hoboken as well as other cities live in decent housing than any other developer in history.
Condolences to the Barry Family.
