Dominos “Death Deal” – only $4.99!
What to avoid while living the low carb life
Domino’s Pizza in Hoboken is by no means a culinary gem – but back in the (unhealthy high carb) day, we used to order from there in a bind because they had easy online ordering and late delivery hours. Thankfully, living the low carb life now – it will never happen again. Ever.
But I spotted this in my inbox the other day. A harmless ad touting some bread bites and sugary soda for only $5 bucks. The ad may be harmless – but what they’re selling is NOT!
This “affordable” combo of Coca Cola and Parmesan Bread Bites – is a whopping 310 grams of carbohydrates, and will send your blood sugar skyrocketing so high, you might actually GET high from consuming it. And sadly, less than an hour later – you will be hungry again. And don’t forget – this is ON TOP of a pizza you also ordered!
Looking at Domino’s standard nutritional data – you need a slide rule and calculator to figure out what each product contains!
But they have a new Wisconsin 6 Cheese Pizza – which, for just a tiny medium 12″ pie has 2,000 calories and 200 grams of carbs! The large 14″ pie is worse – 2720 calories and 272 grams of carbs!
After “digesting” this info – read the article Gary Taubes wrote in the NY Times in 2011: Is Sugar Toxic?
This is what the Domino’s ad should say, provided they followed the “truth in advertising” motto:
EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK IN HOBOKEN!
