What is the deal with the damn helicopters!

A majority of them fly the NYC tourists over to the Statue of Liberty. Great for the business and tourists.

We don't need the extra noise as they constantly fly over town

What can be done?

Here’s something the mayor can do - why all the sirens at 3 AM. Several times a week, in the wee hours of the morning, our sleep is shattered by fire trucks and/or police cars blasting their sirens at the loudest volume. It is the most inconsiderate thing. Mostly these are false alarms. Is it really necessary to wake up half the light sleepers in town to drive a firetruck or police car less than 1-mile, when there’s no one on the road at that hour anyhow. A few bleeps on the siren would do, when approaching intersections blocked with concealed views by illegally parked cars - oh, that’s another problem the mayor should address.

well that's logical, eam.

biffy you are right...i have often felt that every single fire call in hoboken is a wild overreaction - how can five trucks be needed for some false alarm at an apartment tower? just not bright people that run services around here; what can we do to make things better??

and of course the cops are lazy. they're a bunch of uneducated meatheads. they wouldn't want to have to get out of their cars except to get sandwiches at luca brasis. losers. really take a golden opportunity to be an integrated part of the community and instead establish and atmosphere of...i don't know, not so bad as distrust..but definitely not on your side, let's put it that way

...and where the hell are those fire trucks going every 20 minutes? I want to know what percentage of responses are false alarms. Every 20 minutes the same 5 fire trucks can be heard running up and down Washington street. I have not seen one emergency in the 2 years I have lived here.

My other issue is with the police and how they handle the double parking situation on Washington street. The current method of pulling their cars up behind said offenders and turning on the siren is LAZY....LAZY!

obviously the Anthony Russo Civic Association is a mob front, come on people, let's not be naive. why else would a "civic association" be needed? do you see Joseph Kulinski Civic Associations? it's a mob front, just like The Character Club where that guy who was recently indicted was based out of, just like the Hudson County Homing Pigeon Club on Newark Street (that one is so outrageous as to almost be flauting its nature...homing pigeon club...riiiiiiight)
so let's summarize...the former mayor of the town is a federal criminal and his son - although we don't want to foster a notion of guilt by association - is currently on the city council. makes sense.
So, anyone know what kind of sweetheart deal the Russo Civic Association has? Do they pay ANY taxes?
Westful— i would love to know any info about this. The Russo CA has a site but no contact link of course. Lately, i will admit they have been quiet at 11:30 on weeknights—or so it seems maybe they are reading this?

That corner of 5th and Adams is just a magnet for people to hang out late nite. I think it's that house above the dry cleaners or something. Anyone know?

I have the pleasure of listening to the W being built. As if the jack hammering, and nail banging isn't enough, now they have a radio that they blast and echoes right into my apt. So much for keeping my windows open when I am working at home during the day...yet my rent keeps going up, amazing.
