HPU: The Hoboken Grinch

Hoboken welcomes new residents with parking boot & stiff fine

Hoboken411 reader Michael spotted this downright soul-less scene along Hudson Street between Christmas and the new year…

“The poor girl who owns the car in these pics just moved into the neighborhood and this is her welcome? As you can see she even put a festive note on her dash!

Her car is still parked and booted between 6th and 7th.”

Happy Holidays from the lovely city of Hoboken…

Hard to read “free parking” signs: That way on purpose?

Speaking of parking – you know how the city responded to the Hoboken411 post about how there was free parking in all surrounding cities, right? They supposedly had free parking until yesterday.

However, nothing stopped the meters from still accepting coins!

I personally stopped half a dozen different people in the last few days (who were going to put coins in anyway), because these dopey signs that were placed in the parking robots were very hard to read – faint (especially at night) as if they were done that way on purpose to get the mistaken revenue anyway.

LOL. I couldnt believe the cojones of the realtor who wrote to the Hoboken Reporter to complain that he couldn’t get a city sticker because he was committing insurance fraud by registering his car at his parents’ address. Plus he is using the car for business purposes so really he admitted to multiple types of insurance fraud in one pathetic sounding letter to the editor. Too funny.

lol… “tiss the season”.. indeed it is. Give her an “A” for effort. ‘Cant say a thing because non of us know what the infraction was. I do hope, and against my usual judgement of pu, think it was probably for just reasons.. (Key word “hope”). One things for sure,.. she learned a valuable lesson about parking in Hoboken,.. about a $200 lesson. Welcome to Hoboken MARA..

People are aware of the regulations but do nothing about it. I can’t feel sorry for her. As for the muni meters, it’s states in plain English free parking. Do we have to use picture symbols? I am not heartless nor do I think our wonderful city government is a model of efficiency and service. I just can’t understand how people move here and knowingly don’t bother to get a city sticker or worse don’t pay for the temporary no parking signs and then block driveways or double their moving trucks.

The city should refund all money paid into the meters over the past two weeks.

Well, for one thing, the reader states he “spotted” this scene between Christmas & New Years. Could it be this “new poor girl” had this note on her car for the entire month of December and got the ticket prior to Christmas?
