I always heard that NYC real estate taxes were cheaper because they have such a large commercial base. Hoboken just keeps on building residential which then requires additiaonl services eating up the additioanl revenue.

Let’s be fair – NYC’s real estate taxes are lower because NYC has an income tax. Overall, the tax bite in NYC is much higher than here. Our problem isn’t that our taxes are too high, it’s that the money isn’t well spent. If we had parks and good schools I would happily pay even higher taxes.

Of course then apartments here would cost as much as in NYC, and we’d have to raise taxes even more to add more affordable housing.

Does anyone call their apartment a “units”, or just real estate people. Are “pods” next?

So according to that R.E. guy, in Hoboken you can “stretch” your dollar…OH yeah over $400k for 500 sq feet is QUITE the bargain!
