Can tow trucks park illegally?

How about tow trucks in Hoboken?
This parking situation falls in between the usual debate here in Hoboken. Not a city vehicle that has zero business parking illegally ever – and it’s not an “emergency” vehicle that should get a few free passes either. Instead, it’s a vehicle that works for the city, normally towing illegally parked cars away (sometimes – but not as often since they ramped up the parking boot racket recently).
A reader sent this picture in, and it’s hard to tell if they’re towing, or just eating lunch at Uptown Pizza. Either way, should this “semi-emergency” vehicle get a ticket or not?

I’d love to see Ian Sacs try and boot one of these guys.

I used to live in JC a few blocks behind ShopRite and I would always see tow trucks speed down Warren street towing car’s when people parked by ShopRite and walked into the mall. I wondered the same thing – I guess its just okay for them to speed since that brings in more revenue for the city.

I bet they could make a killing towing city vehicles alone!

That is true, but they need to get called by the HPD to make the tow. And I doubt Chief Falco will allow HPD to ticket city wheels. So the illegal parking will continue and eventually Mile Square will be knocked out of business by the Zimmer administration. They want all BnRs to be extradited from Hoboken. Sick, really.

I’m pretty sure Mile Squared towing is owned by a cop or his family so i doubt they would ticket one of their ‘own’

Of course .That is not a secret in regard to the mile square owner..The key is in order for them to tow they have to be called prior..To the poster who made a visual on the jersey city shop rite towing, did you consider some of these vechiles park over night or are not in the store at all? This use to be a habit at A@P in Hoboken overnight. At the shipyard on 13th st Applied Security has to check the cars out side kings and riteaide then come back in an hour..to call the tow. May or may not be mile square..but all the same people park over night. kings mgr said it’s up to applied security to tow.Take a look at the shop rite on 11th and madison after 1am..The cars in the lot are not all night employees.. Same all over ..No place to park.
