Teachers “Occupy” Wall Street

Hoboken resident Bob Bowdon interviews Wall St. Protesters

Well known Hoboken resident Bob Bowdon, recently founded Choice Media, a non-profit news source devoted to covering all facets of K-12 education and reform across the country.

Bowdon took his camera down to the “Occupy Wall Street” protests earlier this week and interviewed teachers about their position regarding the so-called “crisis.”

The responses were quite surprising.

I’ve seen interviews like this elsewhere. Most of these protesting bozos don’t even understand the situation, and flock like blind baboons. Part of the problem may stem from Wall St., but most of it comes from our own national and local governments and unions.

Tribe mentality at it’s finest.

Yeah pretty much. The interviewees are an incoherent and not very informed bunch. But are they representative of the protesters in general? They seem cherry-picked, with editing to emphasize their lack of economic literacy. Either way, from what I’ve seen/read/etc. the anti-Wall Street crowd seems oblivious to the rent-seeking, value-transference nature (vs value creation) of the industry they’ve targeted. Instead they focus on things like getting the rich to “pay their fair share” or “four day work weeks”. Maybe they simply can’t get their minds around bigger topics. They remind me of the anti-Bush crowd of the last decade: while there was PLENTY to criticize all but a few based their complaints on half-truths and propaganda. Mr. Bowden, on the other hand, believes such things as outsourcing is good because “it saves money.” Sure it does – for those firms that practice it (and their stake holders). But is this a net benefit to society? Not so sure. Seems like a big race to the bottom. How does he feel about the continued (and occasionally fraudulent) push for H1Bs by industry leaders claiming labor shortages in an era of high unemployment? I wonder if he thinks that amnestied illegal aliens will save Social Security. Ok, I’m done rambling. Time for a beer.[quote comment=”211376″]I’ve seen interviews like this elsewhere.
