EARTHQUAKE in Hoboken!

Earthquake felt in Hoboken NJ

Just felt the earth shake beneath me, and no – I didn’t just have a big lunch.

A minor earthquake just rattled the area!! Hope it’s not a sign of bigger things to come!

Update: The epicenter was in Virgina. 5.8 Magnitude.

Back in my college days when I was production assistant for a NBC affiliate’s News department I learned what the camera people call their cameras, Idiot Magnets. Park a news truck, get out the camera, you get a bunch of people that might do anything to get their 15 minutes of fame.

The talking waxed face talking heads created a friggin panic, really it wasn’t that bad. I am willing to bet that most people didn’t know it even happened. No, the media made into a end of the world event they didn’t shut up for a second.
But on the positive side it was a good low impact drill for most, it gave the various agencies a chance to put their plans into effect. And as far as I know nobody killed and some injuries.and some property damage.

That’s the way things are done now, escaped!

If it’s HOT – special news report!
It’s RAINING – special news report!
It’s SNOWING – forget it, special 12 hour news report!

I would imagine this weekend is going to be 24 hour coverage on that bloody hurricane.

I wish these talking heads would just STFU, enough already. [quote comment=”209929″]The talking waxed face talking heads created a friggin panic, really it wasn’t that bad. The only person happy about the quake is that guy accused of raping the hotel maid he is not on the front page and now is on page 10.[quote comment=”209940″]That’s the way things are done now, escaped! If it’s HOT – special news report! You will soon learn what shore areas to avoid on summer weekends too many bennies. The herd comes down to the shore area for the summer to flex their muscles, get drunk and act stupid but come sept they will be back up north perfecting their act for next year and are the HPD’s problem.
I got your hat—hanging.[quote comment=”209951″]escape thanks for meeting me at the shark and fin and the dairy queen on 9..in lacy..btw the tremer was an excuse for the manly lover to empress his mate during dinkey do..Where what you this weekend..forget hoboken…history..save your buddie hat.. The area to avoid is seaside ,the ghetto of the white trash..you as a kid went there years ago..if you were poor you went to keansburg, jerry sheens and all the bungelos floated out to see in a storm.Ask Jimmy Ferinia…then when you got rich you went to ortley and lavelette..If you do live in that area lacy forked river you will notice the crackers and rednecks some live in mobile homes..btw I dont think you resided there, and btw I have your helmet hanging…There are no helmets..most are gone..hope to meet you one day.
stataborne..You can run into me in manchester with lots of retired cops ..we call it seizure village ..come join the fun.[quote comment=”209954″]You will soon learn what shore areas to avoid on summer weekends too many bennies. The berg is one of the best kept secrets around, the boardwalk hasn’t change a bit in 50/60 years. I take my grandkids there all the time the rides don’t cost you a bag of$$$, the food is the same as any boardwalk. Granted there are plenty of dirt bags in the area but the cops run a very tight ship, the old fashion approach. Its a trade off the berg with its cast of characters or pt. pleasant or sea side with its own set of characters. Parents with young kids in hoboken should really check it out, a hour south plenty of parking a lots of fun for the youngsters. Jerry Sheens was wild in they would get big names to play there on weekends. Before you head south take a ride there, walk around and remember the good times when everything was much simpler. Here’s a wild shot there is a HS reunion in sept , will you be there?[quote comment=”209957″]Escape 68 my hat lmao no hats leather helmets..not my hat..how does it hang? is it pms The area to avoid is seaside ,the ghetto of the white trash..you as a kid went there years ago..if you were poor you went to keansburg, jerry sheens and all the bungelos floated out to see in a storm.Ask Jimmy Ferinia…then when you got rich you went to ortley and lavelette..If you do live in that area lacy forked river you will notice the crackers and rednecks some live in mobile… Read more »

The worst part of the special news reports are the “reactions” from morons on the street. Who gives a crap what these total strangers think?[quote comment=”209940″]That’s the way things are done now, escaped! If it’s HOT – special news report! It’s RAINING – special news report! I certainly felt it on the 11th floor of my office building in Brooklyn. But my coworker was downstairs a block away and didn’t feel it. Crazy though– they evacuated my office building– 30 minutes after the fact! Then they let us back in 30 minutes later. 🙄 A few minutes after the fact, we did get an announcement on the building’s emergency PA system: “The building has just shook. We have no idea why.”
