Hudson St. cars hit with GPS theft spree
Several cars have GPS units nicked; HPD has potential suspects
Late this afternoon, a NJ Transit employee notified Hoboken Police that he had noticed throughout his several trips in and out of the city today, that he saw a suspicious group of men methodically making their way uptown (along the east side between Washington & Hudson). He told HPD that it seemed like they were “checking out vehicles.”
Based on that loose lead – Hoboken Police & Vice Squad began investigating the areas in question – and found that several vehicles had their GPS units stolen along Hudson Street. It appears that the thieves either checked for unlocked doors, or simply “popped” the door lock cylinders out. Hoboken Police also stopped two men on 7th Street who had five GPS units in their possession.
When will people learn how to prevent this easy crime for criminals which does nothing but cause trouble for you?

This will surely bring up topic we need more cops. Still undecided on that but this area is rt By police Recently coffe shop on 1st aNd garden robbed at 1130 on sat. With all theBars and peole this person didnt care. More cops in my opinion wont chage this. Crime is obviously up but more cops would Rarely catch in the act Also dont think more cops deter. Anyone from commiting crime.
That being saiD with coffe shop roberry like 5 cops on scene And did amazing job tracking leads and do 110 pct to solve.
More qualified force would increase arrest rate and that may help decline crime.
Police are impt and we shouldnt hurt them in wallet to save money. But making less brass aNd more patrolman and eliminate ot. We could saVe money and keep town safe.
So tWo things i see 1 more cops wont stop crime

Fyi i think our police are top notch and do great job. But reducing high paying Brass. Amending retirement packages hiring more beat cops and eliminate ot I belive we can reduce police budget while providing Better service and still take care of our cops finacial for great job they doand sacrafice they put in

I just can’t believe that people still can’t get it in their heads that they no longer live on Pussy Willow Lane, Butterfly Terrace, or Puppy Dog Drive. Won’t say the criminals have the right, but the owners sure bait them. Lost sympathy quite some time ago.

The problem I have is that since all the GPS units were stolen, now all the idiots who needed them to get to Hoboken to visit Carlo’s Bakery will be even more lost driving in town, cause more accidents and be around even longer!…Give them back to them ASAP!
