Lunch trucks pay for parking spots

Hoboken trend: Lunch trucks pay YOU for your parking spot!

A new trend has been growing in Hoboken as more and more lunch trucks battle to do business in town. And that’s paying anyone for their parking spot.

Some trucks – like the new Seoul Food Truck mentioned earlier today – are offering free food for anyone that contacts them and gives them their parking spots. I’ve also heard that trucks have also been paying up to $20 to get your spot.

Free market capitalism? Or just less parking for people who want to visit other shops and restaurants?

Aren’t commercial vehicles prohibited from taking up ANY available parking space without a permit?

It was parked illegally on the corner of Hudson in front of Energy Kitchen on Hudson St on Wednesday. I think I saw the owner or manager of Energy Kitchen asking them to move it which they did not. I gather the restaurant owner if he was smart would take up those spots in-front of his restaurant.

This sounds like an opportunity for those who are unemployed. An extra $400 in your pocket each month sounds tasty.
