Hoboken City Council – Animated
The Hoboken City Council – in a nutshell
A very small handful of of Hoboken residents may go through psychotic withdrawal during summer months when the council may skip a meeting or two. So I’ll fill the void with this entry today.
Was speaking with a resident the other day, and wanted to share their comment about the “state of politics” in Hoboken.
He told me “I’ve never witnessed such a bitter body of politicians in my life here it town (over 20 years). The spiteful, vitriolic nature between the council members and from the administration embarrasses me. I truly believe that some of them have genuinely forgotten what they were elected to do, and that is to serve the people of Hoboken. Through my eyes, I only see grandstanding and self-promotion, regardless of what their press releases say afterward. The tone some at-large council people have when speaking at meetings is condescending and unprofessional. They have really lost sight of their responsibilities in a very big way. I wish they’d put the egos aside, and get to work! The city is not theirs alone. It belongs to the residents and taxpayers.”
He also added that it’s a shame that the level of political participation in Hoboken, as well as the rest of the country is so pathetically low, and it’s unfortunate that it usually takes a massive crisis or disaster to re-focus the population on certain priorities.
After our conversation, an image came to mind, which could very well represent the net results of how some might perceive Hoboken’s elected officials:
Enjoy the rest of your day, Hoboken! A little more than 5 weeks left until Fall!
