Should 5K runs be banned on weekdays?

Hoboken 5k runs clog rush hour traffic; is a change in order?

After speaking with countless residents since Hoboken411 started over 5 years ago, it’s clear to me that many folks think having 5k runs on weekdays (for charity or not) is a bad idea.

Considering Hoboken’s population has topped 50,000 residents (a 30% increase) over the past 10 years, the fact that we have nonsensical reality TV shows like Cake Boss are attracting gobs out of town visitors, plus the crippled waterfront impeding traffic – maybe it’s time to restrict all 5k runs to a Saturday or Sunday?

Apparently you expressed a problem with the amount of dog walkers in town (“too many”). So I asked about your issue.

See, I have no problem with the amount of dog walkers in town, because there are hundreds of dogs here. Actually, I’m friends with several. There’s room for all of us. Hope you understand that.

Finally, for the record, it’s not just this dog walker who disproves of a 5k run on a weekday. Put your *passionate* feelings about me aside for a second, Ho17, and learn to read, so that you’ll see that others voted on when this 5k run should take place: 47% of 531 voters feel that it should be held on a weekend, because it makes for an unnecessary mess otherwise.

And before you go off on the hows and whys, angrily because hemorrhoids are flaring up again, we had a 5k run take place on the pier on June 4th. So it’s safe to say that other runs can be held on weekends.

You truly are an idiot. I wasn’t going to respond, but it is blatantly obvious you do not read other posts in their entirety. I don’t know what school of math you went to but 47% is not a majority. Yes, would it be “easier” for some on the weekends, sure, is it always feasible, no. You don’t seem to understand this, just because one Walk/Run takes place on a weekend doesn’t mean all Walk/Runs can take place on a weekend. Before now, most people call you names and tell you that you’re wrong. I am doing neither, because it is obvious to me that you have O.D.D. Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Below from the DSW is the description of O.D.D. oppositional defiant disorder is a pattern of disobedient, hostile, and defiant behavior toward authority figures. Symptoms: Actively does not follow adults’ requests Angry and resentful of others Argues with adults Blames others for own mistakes Has few or no friends or has lost friends Is in constant trouble Loses temper Spiteful or seeks revenge Touchy or easily annoyed Enough said about that. Don’t go away angry, just go away. I will not be responding to your childish and assinine response to my post. Like I said I work for a non profit so I have important work to do, life changing work. You have the interwebs and dog poo to clean up. Now, have at me. Sheesh.
Finally, for the record, it’s not just this dog walker who disproves… Read more »

Funny, I wouldn’t consider you an authoritative figure, just another boring narcissist who believes her/himself an authoritative figure, and that his/her authoritativeness automatically qualifies him/her for respect and recognition from everyone. A few symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder: * Believing that you’re better than others * Exaggerating your achievements or talents * Expecting constant praise and admiration * Believing that you’re special and acting accordingly * Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans * Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior * Being easily hurt and rejected * Having a fragile self-esteem * Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional Anytime you want to play with me, shoot! Haha. Its amazing how 20 people have written the same exact thing about her. I mean, can that many people really be wrong? Doubtful. Add another person to the long list of people who cant stand the village idiot.
You truly are an idiot. Yes, three or four people makes twenty. You’re a wiz at math. Sure hope you work in a financial field!

And, Journey, try “stick up arses”. It’s a better answer than karma.
Haha. Its amazing how 20 people have written the same exact thing about her. Wow, 3 separate responses? I feel special. Biotch is really original. Doggie pyschic powers? No doubt. Not only is your response extremely mature like you portray yourself to be, but it really hurts me deep down inside. Kudos to you. You want to bring fights to Bitchez and Cat Fights….why dont you follow your own suggestion? Are you too cool for that? Always do as i say not as i do…wouldnt expect anthing less from the little brat. I never once said that I agree with the race taking place on a weeknight, but I do know that there is an intelligent way to debate a topic so that people actually take you seriously. Unfortunately you are too young and naive to figure that out which is why so many people hate you. Readers might actually listen to what you have to say if you moved up to a 10th grade level or so. I’m impressed that you actually used a fact in your response…that 47% of the people thought it was a bad idea on a weeknight. Unfortunately for you, it doesnt really help your cause. Last time I checked 47% is not a majority. If you can do tje math, which you probably studied in doggie walking school, you would know that 53% of the responders said that it doesnt bother them or its ok because its a charity event. So once, you are in the minority. Majority wins. Toodles!
Finally, for the record, it’s not just this… Read more »

And Ho17, if you wish to continue to spew nonsense about “the man” and whatever crazy stuff your mind drums up from time to time, go for it. Just bring all of your personalities to the Bitchez and Catfights Corner.

Yeah, ktbc. Please don’t ignore ol’ miserable Parent of the Year over here, who obviously prefers to spend time following me online than minding his offspring. After all, for some people it’s all about planting seeds and criticizing dog walkers who enjoy their jobs.

Miserable Parent of the Year. Yep, that’s me…how did you know? There’s your typical idiotic response. Same ole shit with you time and again…..its like you’re stuck in 8th grade. When you’re called out for being the asshole that you are, you resort to making stuff up about people. Maybe it helps mask your insecurities….who knows….but whatever it is its childish. Ironically though, its you who enjoys calling other people immature which makes us all chuckle a bit. I’m not miserable at all actually. I have a great job and a great family so there’s nothing in my life to be miserable about. If anyone is miserable on this site it is you, which is well documented by your posts that attempt to belittle people solely because they dont agree with you. Believe it or not, you’re not always right….some may even say never. We all know that you went to school for years and years to become a dog walker but sometimes common sense and actually knowing all the facts (something you’ve never done well) outweighs the book smarts. I probably post once to your 10, so i’m the person who’s always online? I ignore many of your posts which you for some reason think are relevant. Sometimes i do respond, and its because I simply cant stand ignorant assholes who think they know everything and shit on people all day just because there’s no consequences. That’s why i call you out, that’s why everyone else calls you out.… Read more »

Was going to say that it’s my doggie-psychic powers which enable me to know about you, seeing as you’re kind of a real biotch. But the truth is I don’t need doggie-psychic powers, or any psychic powers, to figure you out :). All it takes is common sense plus the ability to read. You’re a passive-aggressive little biotch. And if it barks like a little biotch, walks like a little biotch, and behaves like a little biotch, what more can I say than it’s a biotch. Toodles.
Miserable Parent of the Year. Yep, that’s me…how did you know? There’s your typical idiotic response. If it’s super important for you to hold a 5k race, it should be no problem do so on a weekend. Unless it inconveniences the hosts or something… 🙄

I quoted the wrong statement, my mistake.

And yes sometimes weekends to inconvenience non profit workers. I work 30-40% of weekends in a year, excluding nights etc.
If it’s super important for you to hold a 5k race, it should be no problem do so on a weekend. Unless it inconveniences the hosts or something…
Cool. Would love to cue violins for you. However, the idea of charity is that you contribute time/energy/money when you can.

If weekends work for you, how is that the fault of everyone else?
I quoted the wrong statement, my mistake. And yes sometimes weekends to inconvenience non profit workers. I work 30-40% of weekends in a year, excluding nights etc.
