Summer is here in Hoboken, NJ

What does summer mean to you in Hoboken?

As of 1:16pm today – it is officially Summer for all of us! The sun will be the highest in the sky, and we’ll enjoy the longest day of the year.

But did you know there are three kinds of “summers?”

 • Astronomical Summer: That is today through September 21st. Today, the northern hemisphere is tilted closest to the sun (23.5 degrees). Our calendar “seasons” are based on this.
 • Meteorological Summer: From a weather perspective, June, July and August are considered the warmest months of the year.
 • Solar Summer: Solar summer is actually May, June and July – the three months with the most daylight.

However, the bad news is that each day until six months from now will get shorter and shorter until the winter solstice on December 22nd at 12:30am.

Amazingly – they had a couple inches of SNOW in Colorado yesterday!

My suggestion that whisker obtain the Hooked on Phonics program extends to the bitter, arrogant, self-proclaimed *geniuses* here.

The days of quite summer weekends in Hoboken are over. That was so 10 years ago.

Or three years ago. My guess is more people are figuring they can’t afford vacations in Honolulu, so they stick around town.
The days of quite summer weekends in Hoboken are over. That was so 10 years ago.
Yeah because everyone in Hoboken used to spend their summers in Honolulu.
Or three years ago. My guess is more people are figuring they can’t afford vacations in Honolulu, so they stick around town.
LOL. I know. The impeccable logic of mooshu. Just when you think there’s not possibly any more nonsense waiting to be hurled out through her keyboard, there it comes.
Yeah because everyone in Hoboken used to spend their summers in Honolulu.
Bars not too crowded Friday and Saturday nights. You can actually have out of town friends come in without too much of a parking hassle.

Saturday afternoon at Willie McBrides watching baseball from the outside seats with maybe seven other patrons and Julie or Vicky at the bar. Sunday maybe a couple hours at Pier A, or catch a little league game up by Stevens. Occasionally PATH into the city to kill some time.

Moved out in 2008 but I miss parts of living there.
