Would never go back again and should have listened to the reviews! I live in the Sky Club so they were the closest salon near us that I found. The first time I went was my mom’s bday and I needed a quick wax- another salon nearby had a 15 min wait so to save time I ran in and they took me right away. However, they kept trying to push other services. They were rude about it telling me how badly my nails needed to be done. I said I’d be back as it was my mom’s bday and I honestly had no time. Then I read the reviews that weren’t that good. Yet, I was walking to the path with my boyfriend the following week and needed a quick manicure and once again they were empty and not busy so it was the quickest place to stop in. While we were in there they were so pushy trying to force my boyfriend to get services (manicure, massage) as he waited for me. They were shouting and wouldn’t stop being pushy that I almost got up and walked out in the middle of my service! They sensed how upset I got so they stopped. I got a regular manicure for $15 and they told me gel was $30. The lady did a really nice job with the manicure- I will admit to that. However, two of the ladies almost got in a fight with one another arguing who should… Read more »

This was the absolute worst manicure experience I have ever had. The owner is aggressive, loud, and obnoxious, pushing you to pay for services you don’t want. She INSISTED on doing gels instead of regular polish, ripped three of my cuticles until they bled, rubbed nail polish remover into them, and did a terribly sloppy job with the painting. It has only been four days, and already four of my nails are chipped and/or peeling. My pedicurist was fine, but the whole experience took over two hours, and it was torture. Did I mention it was $72 BEFORE tip?

I felt very sorry for the other salon employees, who seemed like nice ladies–I do not speak Korean, but it wasn’t difficult to see that the owner was berating them while they cowered meekly. Their body language said it all. I hope they collectively win the lottery and walk out on her. The only plus was making eye contact with about six other cute, stylish 20/30something professional women who were just as shocked and uncomfortable as I was. We were all basically horrified. I kept waiting for the candid camera crew to reveal themselves.

The only place in Hoboken that I will go is the Nail Bar on 9th/Jeff. They are super nice and do a great job.

I don’t go to nail salons like this anymore (only go to Bliss for a splurge), but I definitely used to. I just got fed up with getting a decent mani/pedi only about half the time.

One thing I have often witnessed, whether it is Hoboken or anywhere else, is the owners/people in charge NEVER do a good job. And they usually try to upsell.

The last time I went to one of this type of nail salon (the kind where you know the technicians work for a pittance), two women literally got into a fight over doing my manicure. It was so embarrassing to watch that I let one doing my manicure and the other give me a shoulder massage. Both services were crappy and a complete waste of money. That was my breaking point.

Who the F charges $150 for extensions plus a pedicure? Seriously, how much were each listed for? $75 a pop? I don’t know anyone who pays that much for either one. Doesn’t make sense.

Really?

If I’m wrong, someone please update me. Thanks!

I’m wondering if you ever reported them to BBB? I had the same type of experience where they said $30 and charged me $45 after the fact. They don’t have their prices in writing and seem to change on a whim whenever they feel like it. They argued with another girl the same day I was there saying “price went up due to new year” yet this was new years eve not even new year day..and again …nothing is in writing about the price changes! It’s scary that one day they can charge you one amount and another day a completely different amount just because they “feel like it”?! So I’m thinking of going to BBB too! Thanks![quote comment=”169752″]Who the F charges $150 for extensions plus a pedicure? Seriously, how much were each listed for? $75 a pop? I don’t know anyone who pays that much for either one.
