Hoboken street performer: Singing Sandro

Singing Sandro brings uniqueness to Hoboken, NJ

Alessandro Pierpaoli (“Sandro“) is a one of a kind gentleman who sings, whistles and plays the guitar at various places in Hoboken.

On a recent walk with Hoboken411 Mascot Oscar, I shot over an hour of footage with Sandro. Including his history, the origins of his music style and much much more.

However, after compiling the video, and re-counting my experiences – I felt it was best to cut a majority of it out, and give you a three-minute teaser of his music instead. Sandro is the type of individual you’re best off speaking to in-person.

With life becoming so entirely digitized, many personal eye-to-eye experiences cannot (and should not) be replicated online. So, when you bump into him, ask him about his career, why he likes performing on the sidewalks, and how he got his guitar. Also toss a few bucks in his guitar case if you enjoy his sound. He plays a nice Johnny Cash, too!

I love singing Sandro! Always cheers me up when I hear him from a distance.

I can’t watch videos on my computer at work. My home computer is not too swift either. Is Singing Sandro the middle-aged man with black hair and mustache who usually sings by the museum alcove? If it is I enjoy hearing him as well. I also miss Chewy. The guy that used to sing on the corner by The uptown Sushi House. I hope everything is alright with him.
